How to fix "the track will not be saved"??

So I don't know when I maxed out the file size, but I have been going through, deleting tons of objects, changing lights back to plain white color, I increased fog slightly...

What do I do next so that I can save my track? If I don't save this, I will lose a lot of hard work I put in tonight.

Thanks for any help on how to reduce the size...

As far as I know, light color or the amount of fog don't affect the file size.

    1. Delete objects
    2. Use the same objects with the same rotation and on the same axis when possible. Use the snap-tool to rotate them precisely.
    3. Avoid zigzaggy wallblock-patterns

    Deleate lots of objects!

Objects that are at wierd angles take up more room than ones that are aligned to the 90 degree directions.
Physic objects like bombs, hinges, lights take up more room than most regular objects
You can deleate a bunch of small things and use bigger objects to still fill in the screen. Deleate a pile of boxes and put a shipping container for instance.

It sucks, but that is part of using this editor. I actually seem to have a sixth sense, I am pretty good at knowing when I am getting close to the limit...

edit... glad to see you maxed the file size!

I'm not glad only because I have been deleting and editing for like an hour trying to save. I'll try putting things in similar angles trick tomorrow. Bedtime for me...

Lesson learned... save often, especially when you feel like you are getting close to the limit.

When I feel i am near the end, I probably save every 20 or so objects I place. And I always have 2 save files. If one goes corrupt, you still have a backup. Nothing worse than loosing it all due to a game freeze.

What jook said. I save really often when I know I placed alot of objects. If you feel you are close to the limit start placing a bunch of cars (full) to see how close you really are. A car is 10 objects a piece.

    Oski has good tips.

haha I do this! Shifty always was like....dude why do you use shipping containers!? My answer always is because it takes up alot of space when you don't have that many objects and need to fill it up.

The other night when I was trying to finish up Mosaic Tile, I had to change the floor pieces to wooden wall instead of the conc edge. 9 vs 12.

I always said shipping containers are a cheap way to decorate. I knew why they were being used.

I just never understood why people would put so many containers in environments that they were so out of place in.

I feel like I have deleted and Altered WAY more than I should have to. I hope it's not glitching and saying it's too big when it's really not. :-/

Re: How to fix "the track will not be saved"??

Unglue everything that doesn't need to be glued and delete lights.

When I'm building a track if I need to move something big or copy something I use a short plank and glue it to what I want to copy/move. Then when I'm done I just LB select and delete the short plank and that way nothing is glue together throughout my whole track. It makes deleting stuff alot easier when I hit the file size limit because I know nothing is glued. You can also hold LB down and select with (A) for moving things without gluing them. Physics objects take up alot of space too. It's worth minimizing them or at least simplifying their structure with less objects or moving parts. I also tend to spend alot of time making sure everything is lined up perfectly and not overlapping which I think lessens the file size. Hope this helps.
