    Evolution like Kodu?!

    Hey guys
First and foremost, I cannot wait for evolution and the more I learn about it the more excited I get!

Lots of people are comparing new features of the new editor to Little Big Planet but have any of you guys played Microsoft's Kodu in the Indie games?

Lots of the stuff I read about Evolution makes me think of kodu, you can start by creating a unique land mass (straight/bumpy/full of hills/mountains etc), then you can add texture, lighting, animations, get the camera to follow specific things at any angle, control any character or item in the game, assign any controls you like to any item, create a scoring system (shoot enemies/ eat objects/ collect stuff etc). Plus LOTS MORE!! .. Water/ Pathways/ Creatable hazards.

Its almost infinitely complex despite its simplistic appearance

Then there is the ability to browse all the custom games people have made

I made a Swarm game on there that was made well before Swarm hit the arcade think I called it Unicycle display team or Syncro display team- it was a long time ago!), ..i made a game that's a cross between Mario and geometry wars where you move aroung in full 3D and the right stick shoots in any direction.

Anyway, it's certainly the closest thing the 360 has to little big planet so I felt that it deserved a mention

I have Kodu but found it quite limiting.
For basic stuff it's fine but I lost count of the number of times I couldn't do something due to these limits.

I still think that Kodu is probably a much closer representation of Evolution's editor than Little Big Planet, Kodu was made by the Microsoft team and I read that they are involved with the development of Evolution so I would've thought that there would be some similarities with the editor,.. maybe, ..possibly anyway.

Also, Euphoric, I agree that Kodu's editor can be quite limited but let's not forget that this is Trials we are talking about and if the two were combined then.. well, yes, we'd be making our own skill games, assigning control to U.F.O.'s or balls (or anything) and assigning score systems to landing pads, collectibles (or anything). So there are in fact strong similarities.
