What is the £1.49 VIP unlock? I haven't bought the game yet so I'm intrigued.

Ergh so it's an EA style "can't be bothered to play the game so I'll pay to unlock what I could just earn".

Yes that's exactly right. Similar to using a Cheat Code to unlocking the whole game. It offers nothing a player can't earn on their own.

I suppose if people are stupid enough to pay then its their problem.

EA acquired Chillingo back in October of '10. EA has been doing things like this so people who don't have a lot of time to play can still be competitive in their games.
