Will RedLynx do a track comp to promote Evo Track Central ?

Very early speculation but one way to make sure Evo and it's track editor get a lot of publicity and uptake would be to announce a big track making competition after it was released.
Most folk will be happy to play the RedLynx tracks for a good while but it's definitely a way to get more people intersted in Evo and it's amazing editor at some point and would be a very useful promo idea.

I think Microsoft should get on board something like this as Trials really has been a key Live Arcade Download and I'm sure Evo will prove to be the same.

It's just an idea and RedLynx may already have something of their own in the works or may wish to tie something similar to DLC again.

Perhaps others can suggest what they think and what possible kind of track competitions they might like to see and what the prizes could be.

I love that idea. I loved trials hd's editor and made a couple of real fun tracks but none of my friends pla, so there was no real incentive for me to put a lot of time into it.

Something like this would be easily accessible to everyone with the game. It would be real fun to do theme competitions. (movies, other games, places etc.)

It would be unbelievably easy to pull this off if there was a search feature. You could just add whatever the competition is called to the name of the track and filter them out there. After a certain time the highest rating wins.

    Love it

There WAS a track building competition. It had Microsoft/ePrize support.

Sadly, out of 10,000 allowable entries, the contest received less than 2,000. There was a total cash prize amour of $8,000, which means over $4 was paid for each track.

That contest was for the Big Thrills DLC for Trials HD. Trials HD had over 1.5 million players at the time. I think that for Microsoft/ePrize/Redlynx to get behind another huge contest, the community is going to have to prove that it's worth it.

This years UCCC only had 96 entries, if Evolution weren't being released, we would have probably ended it with this year's low turn out.

If Track Central, and the editor, work as well as we hope for, then maybe huge contests should make a comeback, but why offer up so much in prizes when the entries just aren't there?

I say that RL should just "wait and see".

I know, but I'm saying that this is such a radical new game where Evo's track editor looks stupendous and you add track central into it that's it would be a great way to promote Evo and the track editor.

A big prize comp will get a lot of people interested I feel.
It's disappointing that there weren't more track entries for Big Thrills but if Evo got 2000 quality tracks onto track central then everyone wins as everyone can play them.

Part of the problem may have been that Big Thrills was released pretty late in TrialsHD's lifecycle and there wasn't a huge blitz of publicity around it.
The harcore knew all about it but save for one or two live spots it was pretty under the radar.
The advantage of announcing a track comp at the same time as launch would be the huge interest in the game would generate comp entries.
There may be something in Evo that signals announcements like DLC and other things, so if there was that could be used to announce a big track competition.

It doesn't need to be a huge cash prize, though that is usually the thing that gets people interested, but any sort of competition to get the trackmaking started would be useful if even some MS points or Trials hoodies T-shirts etc. were offered.
TrialsHD might not be a commercial juggernaut like MW3 etc. but you can be certain that it's value in boosting the Microsoft Live Downloading experience is enormous and Evo will be even greater with the added multiplayer options and track central.
I don't expect to win any competitions BTW, I've seen the trackmaking elite. This isn't about wanting goodies it's about generating interest and hopefully new trackmakers into the community.

I also said RedLynx probably have their own ideas and strategy for track central that could involve competitions and tournaments etc. but I thought this was worth at least suggesting anyway.

2 years after release of HD and still everyday we all get plenty of messages about custom tracs.. too many to play em all really, and that's just off our current friend list....
With trac central, I'm guessing that after a couple of months of evo being out, if you played trials 20hrs a day, everyday, we won't of played em all..
Nevermind enough to plat em all..

There are going to be hundreds of thousands of tracs..

Just how many do you want.. really...
    I doubt it needs promoting

I think RedLynx have far grander plans for their DLC than just a few tracks.
I suspect any DLC will blow people away because of the nature of it but we'll see as it is far too early to speculate on what I think they might have up their sleeves.

How many have you got ?

More seriously, it's only the pretty hardcore fanbase who plugged in to the many amazing trackmakers and tracks.
The more casual Trials player will now have access to amazing Evo creations by the Trials trackmakers and that could create a whole new ballgame.

It's hardly spamming to post on a thread. The community and Mods on here know perfectly well what spamming is and are pretty quick to deal with it.
