Here my personal view on the Trails Revolution version i got to play at gamescom Koln.
First of id like to excuse me on my bad sentence building and probably spelling errors.
It turned out more like a personal experience than a real review. This view is created
from about an hour of game experience. I will compare this to Trials HD on a couple occasions.
First thing i did when i got my hands on the controller was go back to the main menu to see
what options there were, there were options for stats, editor and multiplayer but they where blocked
out. So i selected singleplayer and started on the first map. This was the rollercoaster kind of track most of us
seen in the videos. As i didnt really like the track i only played this track once, about this track i have to say
that i dont think this is as competition driven as most of the beginner/easy trials hd tracks but that something
only time will tell. Next up i picked the extreme track which i assume was Out of the Pit. After reading about its
difficulty on these forums i expected it to be really hard, but it wasnt THAT hard in my opinion. I 3 faulted it myself on my 3rd try.
And witnessed someone from these forums zero fault it.Its basicly a track which has u going up a rocky mountainside.
Personally i thought the driving line of this track wasn't really variated (is that a word ?? ) enough. I saw the driving line as a cross
between Goin' Up and Pilgrimage. My personal favorite track was a sawmill themed one also seen in a couple of videos. These big saws
looked really nice. This track had a really nice technical driving line. I also noticed that there were a couple of object which came
straight out of Trials HD like the air condenser and the blue electric cabin which was cool to me. One map i played was
a harbor based track which had a rising water level.
There were a total of 10 tracks and 2 Skillgames playable. I have only played all the track but seen other people play the skillgames.
One skillgame had u balancing a ball on top of your bike in a holder (dont know the right word for it).
Now lets get into the actual gameplay. The bikes basicly acted like in THD but far more forgiving i had more than a couple of occasions
which would have definitly killed me in THD but it let me ride on happyly here. Also u dont land on ur back as easily as in THD.
I could go up decently angled hills without even leaning forward. Good thing about it its thats a little bit more accesible now for
casual players. For example a friend of mine who kinda sucks at THD found it easier to control now, he defenitly enjoyed playing
Trials Evolution more. Altho the water looks really good, The water physics were one thing i didnt really liked i felt if youre where
in kind of slow motion when u where pretty deep in the water plus the bike looks pixelated underwater. The dirt areas reacted good
when driving over them but it didnt feel to different from the usual stuff u ride over but it adds a good layer of variation to the looks.
I saw someone unlock a 15G achievementBut when he pressed the guide button none of the achiements had any name or
description yet. U could see the picture of it but it dont really remember what it was.
I dont know much more to add to this. Ive got a couple of pictures and videos on a friend camera which i will post in the upcoming days.
No way! I also am in kind of slow motion when I am in deep water in real life, I must be broken...Originally Posted by ronald84
Sarcasm aside, thanks for taking the time to write this up.
This was a good review. Im looking forward to any pictures and videos you have.
Nice review man![]()
Your description of going uphill without having to lean any has me a lil worried about the controls being fiddled with![]()
Uphill riding is basically identical. Nothing is tampered there. Dunno.. Maybe you are just better rider
Bike can now take more hit if dropped really high.
Ok I can't argue with Santa Claus himself![]()
Thanks for clearing that up mate![]()
Thanks. I was actually worried there for a minute.Originally Posted by ANBA
I would like to see a really good run on a med flow track just to see if the bike can react the same with precision technique at full speed.
This is why I'm excited to have Murdoc going to PAX with HD video.Originally Posted by jhitman
Didnt JJ go to gamescom too? thought he would have said something about it.
for the uphill thing take the first gamescom footage as an example (the rollercoaster track) at 39 seconds ingame u have this large uphill dirt. it could be my imagination, but something as steep as this i thought should require some leaning forward. theres no denying the bike doesnt flip over as easy as it used to in THD.
edit: im defenitly not trying to bash on evo, im lovin it. im just trying to say how i experienced trials evolution and jeah after a second look maybe the hill where in particul i noticed the uphill thing might been not as steep as it actually looks because of the camera. all im trying to say is that to me it felt a little easier/ more accesible to control.
