Re: Nytmair's Creations [HARD - "Ectoplasm"] [Sept. 11]

Cant you take the entire track as a metaphor for the process of death and afterwards?

You go from the church (or whatever you want to view that building as), pass by the grave yard and go underground... after a journey (purgatory?), you reach a bridge between death and the afterlife, taking you to the afterlife (or whatever there may be after death).

I can if you tell me to. I had the opposite impression from what you described. But yeah, some things make more sense with your description.

Namely, I don't understand how a rider can travel to the afterlife at high speed. I'm an atheist.

Haha. Well in all honestly, there is no metaphor or anything linked to this track (at least not intentionally). Its just a track that I wanted to build a cool building at the beginning, and there somteimes graveyards near churches, so I did that, and then i thought going underground would be good, but I wanted to build a cool bridge, so I threw that i there too

Art is always metaphoric. You can't escape it. The question is whether an artist wants to make the metaphor good or not.

There is no question that your track is an analogy for something momentous, maybe a Journey into the afterlife, maybe a representation of strong passion (which is how I saw it), maybe something else. The graves are definitely a metaphor for death, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is the rider who dies.

The reason I didn't call it a church was because I didn't want to interpret it that way. But there is no question the building is an analogy for something. I interpreted it as a place of life; others will interpret it as a gateway to death.

I don't think of it that way. Isn't the metaphor, and how "good" that metaphor is, determined by the audience? Especially if the metaphor is more of an unintentional one by the creator (artist), the way that the audience decides to interpret what they are viewing (listening to, reading, etc, etc) is what will make the metaphor good or bad.

Now that I think about it, even if I designed a track to be a perfect metaphor for something, no matter how good I want to make it, its worth depends on the audience's interpretation.

Personally, I don't care one way or the other. You brought this topic up by asking me why I can't interpret it the way you described above.

    THREE new tracks up.
Basically they have been works on progress and I'm sick of looking at them. They also may be my last tracks until Evo. Enjoy!

Without a doubt you have easily stepped it up compared to your other earlier tracks, i love all 3.
The village: simple design, all about the driveline on this one, a very fun challenging track. One borderline extreme bit in there for a kick. Some impressive shortcuts in there too. Death row: my favorate looking out of the 3, very challenging extreme. Took a cheeky lil shortcut at the 3 barrels Tiny lil bit to dark but im sure the light beaming through my windows doesnt help lol. Like the chair at the end. 9 to 5. This is my overall fave out the 3, most of the detail on the the dl. Nice cool designed obstacles, not the easiest to speedrun but stil my fave.

What shortcut at the 3 barrels on Death Row?

Also, thanks for the positive feedback! I really didn't think these would get very much positive reception since they are really not "finished" in my eyes, but I was tired of working on them
