I tried it, but was unsure.
Is it any good for speedrunning? I noticed the story mode had completion % leaderboards, which is crap because whoever gets 100% first stays first forever.
I don't think it's a game for speed runners, more for classic Metroid/Aquaria enthusiasts, plus the game has a feel/pace similar to Limbo. Shooters are not my cup of tea but this is more of an exploration platformer and it's masterfully done.Originally Posted by T4KShadow
This game is sick. It's not a speedrunning game but there are leaderboards for a mode called "Lantern Run" with leaderboards for 1 player, 2 player, 3 player, and 4 player. It's a survival mode thingy.Originally Posted by T4KShadow

Me and my friend were sitting on the title screen for ages going "I'm gonna buy it!.....No actually......Ugh Okay I wi-No no I can't".........."I'll buy it if you do!".
I finally decided I'm not going to buy it, I mean 1200 points is alot...
w00t. Me and a friend just got the 1 million points achievement for Lantern Run. Top 10![]()
I have completed the game today and can gives this apreciation. The game is a bit on the short side, like Limbo and another thing it has in common with that game is that it may not be super long but it's an experience in itself and well worth the price IMO for 5-7 hours of quality time. (15$... more money than that just passed through my bowels this morning)
Sure it could have been longer but it probably would have been more diluted. The game delivers what it promises, a beautiful and intriguing world and the ambience is spot on. I rather have a short and solid tilte than have it try to be longer and end up being monotonous.
If you like games like the classic 8/16-bit Metroids, Aquaria, Bob Came in Pieces and Limbo, this game should suit you, even though it borrows things from these other games there is quite nothing like it.
I give it 8.5/10
I finished it yesterday, and I had a blast. I still have one concept art to find, and I'll have 100% everywhere.
I personally love action/exploration/puzzle games. The mechanical level was awesome, with the screen rotating and such. I'm also very fond of sci-fi so the shield and laser made my day.
Some gameplay mechanics are sweet, like the "missile minigame" (although a bit frustrating at 2am) but others quite puzzling, like the lasers in the ice area. It's a bit of trial and error, and I'm still not so sure how I completed certain parts of this area.
Like Qc I find it too short, but that's also probably because I couldn't stop playing it.
I've yet to try the multiplayer mode, but from a video I saw on youtube, it seems fun.
It's like Shadow Complex (yet another game with shadow in it) only you're in a flying saucer
This game would have been even better if the story had been co-op ready. They should have made the music louder, since the score is quite good.
