If you have spent 9mm ammo, wire cutters, and a hot glue gun, then you too can have pretty sweet bullet buttons.

I actually have a couple of spare 360 cases and a few spare controllers, are there any good tutorials for doing something similar if i wanted to. Not the design so much, but for the preparation and products to use???

Hey man, I kinda posted a tutorial in my Happy Birthday Trials HD thread. It's post #121.

Basically, if you have ever prepped/painted something before, then you know what you are doing. If not, then expect to make some (at least to you) pretty glaring mistakes.

Stick to one painting system. Krylon Fusion paints are good for this type of project and will yield a controller that you should actually be able to play with. Make sure you use their clear coat.

Buy high quality masking tape. I bought some crap brand blue painter's tape and the lines aren't that clean at all.

Follow the directions for the paint when it comes to base coats and clear coats. When you need to peel off masking tape wait longer than the "15 minutes" most paints claim to dry in.

Try to plan it out so you only ever have to do each color once. The more layers you have, the easier it is for something to go wrong.

Have the basic design and, if you've never done this before, throw it out the window and make it simpler. I can't believe that the Trials HD controller came out as well as it did, the laws of probability should have made it suffer catastrophic failure.

If you have specific questions I'll answer them, but I've only really done 3 controllers and am a noob myself.

nah thats all i wanted mate. The paint brand is enough. May not be here in AUS but ill look around for something similar. Not sure what I'll do actually, have just been toying with the idea for a while. Not sure I have spent ammo lying around so might just stick to painting... you crazy man!..

I actually have a box with about a thousand spent 9mm, .357, .38, 7.62, and .45 brass.

I shoot a lot. Guns are illegal for most citizens in AUS, right? Wouldn't the police still carry? Maybe you could call a station and ask about the laws regarding spent ammo.

Bullet buttons are pretty easy.

Not sure if you saw the post where he showed off the controller he made me, but after seeing that, the THD one, and another one he made, I honestly believe the only difference between those designs (or any other crazy suggested theme) and the real thing is just material and time. I really hate inflating his ego even more, because he's my friend and I don't want his head to explode. I am just really impressed that someone could just try doing this, and have his first 3 attempts turn out so good.
