Ninja classifications make sense to me. In game tracks won't need it but customs could definitely use a higher level.
My question is, is ninja. Term used only in this community? Or is it the "official" name for harder than extreme customs?
Community term.
I think Pirates and better.
Great idea.
The title should be unlocked after getting platinum on al extreme tracks.

The point is to have some way to differentiate between "normal" Extreme tracks and ones that are 2x-5x as hard.
Yes, Ninja is a community term here in these forums, but I don't really think it matters what word RedLynx chooses to use - it would be fairly obvious what it meant when you select your difficulty for a custom track and see an ordered list:
BEGINNER
EASY
MEDIUM
HARD
EXTREME
NINJA, EXTREME+, CHEESEBURGER, WHATEVER
Seeing the difficulty listed below Extreme would make it very obvious I think regardless of what term is used.
Sorry Starfire, I think that's a terrible idea.Originally Posted by Starfire999

One of my friends is currently trying to get 144/144 Golds, and I know he can do it - he just got Goin' Up the other day. If there was an insane track which took me months to get Platinum on then he would never even be able to pass it, much less get Gold.
My request was to help differentiate between Extreme and [INSERT PREFERRED TERM HERE] custom tracks, not to create the same problem with in-game tracks - making Extreme three times as broad as the other difficulties.
This is a brilliant idea in a way, because then the difficulty wouldn't dilute the meaning of "Extreme" for casual gamers who would never get Platinum on all the Extreme tracks anyway.Originally Posted by Lumberjack
I don't really know if it can work though because we're talking about custom tracks, so the option would become available to creators, not players. What happens if you have not unlocked the "Ninja" difficulty yourself, but you download some Ninja tracks tracks from a friend who has? Would they just show up as Extreme for you until you unlock it?
I know that Evolution is going to have a more versatile and robust track-sharing system than Trials HD, so maybe it would even be possible to make Ninja tracks "locked" and only downloadable by people who have gotten Platinum on all the in-game Extremes, as Lumberjack suggested.
I'm sure that the few players who actually create and play Ninja tracks are fully aware that they are targeting a very small group, and that 99.9% of Trials players would hate the tracks anyway.
Several Ninja track makers already only share their Ninja tracks upon request and don't leave them shared because they don't want "regular players" giving them negative feedback and complaining about their "impossible" tracks.
Murdoc has mentioned to me that he will probably have to create two separate accounts to make custom tracks in Evolution - one for Ninja tracks and one for everything else, because otherwise his rating as a track-maker would be terrible from all the casual gamers who try his Ninja tracks and give them a negative rating because they can't pass the first obstacle.
Doing what Lumberjack and I suggested above would fix this issue because it would prevent anyone who was not already REALLY good at the game (getting all Platinums on in-game Extreme tracks) from downloading any Ninja tracks at all and potentially giving unjustified bad ratings.
+1 for Cheeseburger.
This should definitely be a custom difficulty title.
I picked option 2It would be nice because sometimes I get messages from people saying my extremes are to hard and I have to explain that they're ninja difficulty.
I really like the title Ninja for extreme+ difficulty tracks. Who was the first person to come up with the name?
I think the Ninjas should become unlocked after you beat all of the extremes without even having to get platinums on them. Some people won't even be able to play the ninjas if that were the case. It just seems more fair that way.
I first heard the term from skumbag when I joined this forum in '09, but it may be older, maybe even ancient.Originally Posted by CypherDextrous![]()

i actually mentioned this a while back in a suggestion thread. i cant see official ninja tracks making the cut but the ability to label a custom track ninja would be awesome.
and i think, as a 'reward' to us loyal community members, that it should be called 'ninja' because thats what we all call them.
although outsiders may be confused at first, how hard can it be to understand what the term means when its presented in game:
Select difficulty:
Beginner
Easy
Medium
Hard
Extreme
Ninja - pretty obvious it means harder than extreme imo.
