Hey all, wonder if any of you could help me with this. I've looked at the other thread about the limit but my questions weren't answered there.
First is, Wall Blocks. - The ones you delete to make the track bigger ect. Do they count towards the object limit?
Second, is about Triggers. I know these count as more than 1 object but does it matter about the size? Does a 2m take up less amount than a 4 or 8m trigger?
I'm wanting to cut down on the amount of objects I'm using and I don't want to waste anything.
Thanks.
I don't think wall block count towards the object limit, but if you delete too many, or in strange patterns (checkboard), it will make the track lag.Originally Posted by LostTechnique
And no, all the triggers count as one object.
By using more wallblocks you can save pieces because it takes less pieces to decorate the room. Making your track dustier usually also reduces lag and maybe even the filesize limt, I'm not sure about the filesize though.
Appreciate the fast response guys, that's good that triggers are only 1, I always thought they'd be more. Thanks Oski.
The reason I wanted to know about the wall block is I have a few maps that are "underground". Like -8 blocks down from the ground level. Was trying to work out if by filling in all the empty space at the top of the map, would that save me space?
And the dust, I do have a habbit of making my tracks dusty, I think it adds a nice atmosphere to it. But I will try to use less in the future to keep the filesize down. Thanks JJ.
More dust reduces the filesize limit. With less dust you'll reach the filesize limit faster!

. Thanks man.
There are two limits in the editor: A file size limit of 8kb and an object limit of 1000
When you can't save your track, that means you hit the file size limit first. If you wanna place more objects in your track you need to try to conserve "data" space. For example, 10 rocks that are rotated at the same angle would take up less space than 10 rocks all rotated at different angles. Same goes for the position of objects (x, y, z coordinates). Any objects that share similar positions will conserve space. A good example is a wall that goes from left to right. If you're careful with the thumbstick movements, each piece of the wall will share the same y and z coordinates but their x coordinates will be different.
So if you keep the file size of the track low enough, you can really have up to 1000 objects. You know you hit this limit when you can save your track but the editor won't let you place anymore objects.
Hope that makes any sense. It's probably WAY more information than you we're looking for.But it's good to keep in mind.

the wall blocks do not count towards your max size limit, plus this object limit(1000 objects) doesnt affect the saving it affects you being to place down an object, if you reach the object limit and you go to place an object ANYWHERE it wont let you place it, but you stil might be able to save, for instance proffesionals morning wood track only had six objects left but couldnt save it cause he reached the saving size limit, which is like 80 Kb's i believe. the walls filled in all the way would be no different cause i built a track on the upper floors and i hadnt filled the starting floor yet and all i could place was the smallest plank and i could save, but if i placed another one i couldnt save, so i filled in every block and still i couldnt save...

Do you have a link to the thread where Jorma posted those quotes? Sounds like it would make a very interesting read. Cheers man, very helpful info.
