    Malachyte's Favorite Music!

    Malachyte's Favorite Music!

I've decided to start this thread to share some of my obscure music with people.

You may love it, you may hate it, but in any case it's a way to discover unusual music that most people have never heard of.

I'm starting with just one song for now, but I plan to update it regularly.

    Song: Sacred
    Artist: First State
    Album (Single): First State
    Year: 2005
Genre: Melodic/Anthem Trance (Or as Slinky calls it - "Emotional Trance")

    Comments:
Although I'm not a big fan of First State's more recent work which is way too poppy and commercial for my taste, this track really pulls me in. Beautiful, deep, emotional, and with perfect flow. This is what melodic/anthem trance should be.

    Song: Asterope
    Artist: Pleiadians
    Album: I.F.O. ( Identified Flying Object )
    Year: 1997
    Genre: Goa Trance

    Comments:
Pleiadians were considered in the 90s to be one of the artists who defined Goa Trance as a genre. Hypnotic, Deep, Complex, Layered, Powerful. Asterope has always been my favorite song of theirs - it really shows how intricate and complex Goa Trance can and should be. Not all electronic music is boring, simple, and repetitive!

Re: Malachyte's Weird Taste In Music!

I downloaded your Protostar EP recently, cool stuff. Nice to have the songs I hear in so many of your videos also.

    ^^

Thanks guys! I'm glad you're enjoying my music. Maybe I should start a separate thread about my own music instead of just music I enjoy... although I know I really went out on a limb posting that Pleiadians song first - that's definitely not "entry-level" Goa. The overwhelming intensity and complexity puts a lot of people off. I'll update the OP with a more digestible track next... I just have to think of a good one!

Oh btw, here's my full discography if you're interested. All of my older releases were under the alias "Ignite" and are fairly different from my Malachyte tracks.

Bump for First State - Sacred.

EDIT: Changed the topic title to be less off-putting...

    Malachyte's Favorite Music!

If you can merge Five Finger Death Punch's song Far from Home with your own style, then I will poo my pants 3 times.

Haha, well I'm not as one-track-minded when it comes to music as people may think. I actually like a lot of rock and metal including Five Finger Death Punch, and as it turns out, Far From Home is actually one of my favorite tracks from War Is The Answer.

I'd rather continue to use this thread for electronic stuff though, because my motive is mainly to introduce people to unique stuff rather than to draw more attention to bands & songs most people already know about.

Don't expect it to be all Trance though - I like plenty of other electronic genres as well including several that don't utilize the stereotypical 4/4 kick drum that puts so many people off from Trance.
