    TextPlus (iphone/android) for Community Texting

I was trying to think if a way to us to communicate outside of the forum and Xbox, but I didn't want to give my real phone number away...

Is there an app we can all use that puts us behind a username where we can text each other rather than depend on the forum or Xbox to communicate?

    ATTN: Apple Device Users

You can use a few programs that will (supposedly) send push notifications of messages. It doesn't always work though.

MSN for iPhone should allow instant messaging capabilities.

360 Live allows sending and receiving messages and accepting friend requests from your phone.

I don't know of any app that emulates text messaging capabilities though as the app would need a constant Internet connection to deliver messages (near) instantly and would drain your battery fairly quickly.

AIM (all instant messenger) is just as good as txting and you can get that on your phone. I used to txt and keep in touch with a few friends from the UK on my normal number through txting and each txt was like 2.50. So I started using AIM.

Use Kik-Messenger! I don´t wanna use yet another app to communicate and this one works on iPhone, Android and WinPhone7.

I tried Kik but don't like it as much as TextPlus.
TextPlus has a nice "community" feature and such.
Plus it's for android, and iphone/ipad.
    Sorry dude...

I can understand the problem Don, but I believe the features in TextPlus are better than those in kik.

The "Community" text capabilities are awesome, and you don't need the fake phone number to send messages as you can search for friends.

There is very little lag between when you send a message and when it is delivered and I haven't noticed a perceivable drop on battery life while testing it out with Nytmair most of the morning.

I would LOVE to be able to use custom ringtones for messages, but that alone doesn't overshadow the good things about this app.

Hope to see you all on TextPlus, my username is ShiftySamurai on there too.

I have the original text app, BiteSMS, Raptr, Live 360, Tapatalk, MSN, and now TextPlus.

    Too many apps.
