I think it would be better if there were three settings; one disables resetting, one enables resetting through an option in the pause menu, and one enables resetting by using the back button. The settings would be Safe, Fast, and Dear God I Hope You Don't Accidentally Press That Button At The End Of A Zero Fault Run On The Midnight Club.
There should just be a restart tournament option in the pause menu. Simple.
Once again I find myself in agreement with Kyoshi. It's freaking me out.Originally Posted by KyoshiYozima
Yep. It's not a simple one button restart. On the easier tourny's it doesn't make much difference but on the higher difficulty tourny's it's frustrating to have to restart.Originally Posted by ChicagoAJ
AJ, have you 0 faulted Midnight Club or Nervous Breakdown? How about Big Thrills Countdown or Ultimate League? Until you've 0 faulted Midnight you can't fully comprehend what i mean by earn.
Maybe you're such a fantastic rider that you could do it in a couple tries, then it really wouldn't matter about the 5 seconds it takes to restart, but for me, being merely an above average rider, it took me at least a week of trying to 0 fault the above tournies and two weeks for Midnight.
So yes, i feel i "earned" those tourny's after a week of restarts, more so than if it were a one button restart, because i was dedicated enough to not get frustrated and quit cause i had to deal with the restarts.
Not the earn i was speaking of. and if you can restart it faster it's going to be easier. I don't want easy, i want a challenge. I want to feel like i accomplished something. If i wanted easy i'd go play COD with the millions of other lazy/bad kids.Originally Posted by ChicagoAJ
I didn't say **** about tracks. We're not talking about tracks, we're talking bout tournaments.Originally Posted by ChicagoAJ
And before you misunderstand my words again, yes you earn what you get on tracks, but i'm sure i'm not the only one who's gotten a top ten score and been like "how'd that happen", as in i got lucky, did the whole track average with that one killer section.
With tourny's it's a different sort of earn.
Does it make more sense now? Shifty got it without me having to spell it out.Originally Posted by ChicagoAJ

I totally understand what ender is saying there, but I really don't need no game menus going all bureaucrat on me, making my life ARTIFICIALLY harder than it needs to be, to make me feel I've achieved something or whatever. That's just dumb.
I'm all for hard tournaments, but not this way.
I like WILLYUMZ' original idea ;POriginally Posted by WILLYUMZ

And yet he has a point.Originally Posted by ender3
Which is exactly why a FAST restart option would benefit everybody - in a tournament it doesn't really happen that you score a killer section because you drive more cautiously in the first place.Originally Posted by ender3
Sorry but I don't think it makes more sense now. See my above points.Originally Posted by ender3
I ususally agree with your point of view, Ender. But not this time. Just sayin'.
The fast reset option toggle sounds like a winner to me.
I agree, well done WILLYUMZ for coming up with the idea!Originally Posted by JoeRegular![]()
Just put an option in the menu that says "restart tournament", people will still complain that they have to pause and select an option.
People around here would ***** about getting a solid gold cat because it wasn't a dog.
Exactly, just having a restart tournament option in the menu is the happy medium.Originally Posted by ShiftySamurai
It's much simpler than having all of those fancy fast/safe tools and you won't have to hear about people complaining about accidently tapping the back button.
This would be a quick enough reset to not cause unnecessary frustration and obviously safe enough to not cause any accidental resets.
And since we're talking about tournaments, Redlynx, please make it so if you beat your time on a track in a tournament it counts towards the actual track-ingame. If I had a nickel for everytime I got a world record in a...
