Only speculation but I think the Editor might have more options like those you would find on a 3D renderer like the ability to chage colour and perhaps scale of objects. If you look at the screenshots and footage it would appear that ramps may be able to be defined as a spline while objects like trailers and tires are able to be 'embedded' in the dirt. I have a feeling that there will be a few ways to make terrain with a user defined line and maybe even some kind of random algorithm to give a more naturalistic feel to sections.
I'm probably wring with most of this but it's fun to speculate but I do think the track editor will be built around the bones of the old one but far more evolved.
The footage also makes clear that though the outdoor option is the big new feature there willl still be the ability to make indoor tracks using structures such as walls etc.
It would be intriguing to see if there's different times of day again with the background changing to reflect early morning sunset or maybe even night.
Weather effects might be a step too far but you just never know what RedLynx has been busy doing.
One thing I do really hope they have is a standing water effects of some kind.
