Mother of all Secrets: Easter Egg summary page

We have decided that in the interest of simplifying the easter egg hunt, I would create a new thread that provides a summary of the work that has been done on the wiki. This post can then be updated to ensure that the important information is captured and more people can contribute.

Please note that the wiki (http://trialshdsecrets.wikia.com/wik...D_Secrets_Wiki) is where all of the detail is located and will be maintained. I think of this post as a summary of the 20 odd pages of work to date, so we can view the information with a clear perspective.

I will continue to add to this as we get more information. Please feel free to leave suggestions below.

    Fibonacci Pattern

It is currently believed that the odd shape resembles the Fibonacci pattern. Looking at the Wikipedia article, you can see that the first image on the right appears to be identical to the pattern seen in the game. After doing a bit of reading on the subject, it becomes quickly evident that the rectangle is not dividing into smaller squares, but rather that the squares are multiplying in size to form a larger shape.

    Cave Painting

This cave painting is thought to be the lascaux hunters from the cave paintings located in France. Known as "the prehistoric Sistine Chapel," the Lascaux Caves, a cave complex in southwestern France, contain some of the most remarkable paleolithic cave paintings in the world, from at least 15,000 years ago.
Further information about this image is required. The secret relates to the second hunter from the top.
The actual cave painting depicts a young hunter, firing an arrow at a deer. The "Hunter" theme is also visited in Space Station.
The Sistine Chapel may give also refer to Sistine Chapel ceiling that was painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512

    42

The number 42 is thought to be a reference to the movie The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and in particular, the 'answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything' (which of course is 42).
More interesting however, is the '42 puzzle' which is of significance here because this puzzle is solved by, among other things, using binary code and roman numerals, which could possibly relate to other secrets (Donkey Business and Fantastic!) within this site.
It is hypothosised that this easter egg, specifically the 42 puzzle, is the key to a number of other secrets, in much the same way that the secret on Where's the Sky? is the key to solving the interstellar envelope. If you look at the solutions to the 42 puzzle, you will see the earth, which is the 42nd ball from the start which may be a reference to the map on Diabolic, and the binary code used to decipher the 42 puzzle (Decimal), can be used to convert the decimal values on Donkey Business.

    Two Circles

The image displayed is part of the Voyager Golden Record cover. The Voyager Golden Records are phonograph records which were included aboard both Voyager spacecraft, which were launched in 1977. They contain sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth, and are intended for any intelligent extraterrestrial life form, or for future humans, who may find them.

    1452 Sign

We suspect that 1452 refers to the birthyear of Leonardo Da Vinci.

    Wing contraption

We believe that the contraption shown in the hidden room is the 'flapping wing' designed by Leonardo Da Vinci.

½ of the name of DE DIVINA PROPORTIONE

When combined with the secret found within Epic Jumps, the following is found.
    _ED_V__APR___RT___E D__I _IN___OPO__ION_
    DEDIVINAPROPORTIONE
    DE DIVINA PROPORTIONE
This translates to "On the Divine Proportion" a manuscript by Luca Pacioli which concerns mathematical proportion and the golden ratio (which has shown up several other places).

    Binary Code
Though a little less obvious, the scores of 1-0, 1-1, and 100-1 form a proper binary character when put together, 10111001. It translates into ¹, or the power of 1.
Alternatively the value in decimal is
    10111001 = 185

    Fibonacci with dots

As mentioned in the Middle Name: Danger info page, it is believed that the pattern is resemblant of the Fibonacci Pattern. The same shape can be seen in the first image to the right of the linked Wikipedia article. However, what's different about this pattern is that it also shows a pattern of dots underneath the Fibonacci Pattern. The purpose of the dots is currently unknown.
Then he linked to the the secret contained within Condemned Complex (Blue image of the fibbonaci pattern with the circles at the bottom).
e is said to be the most significant mathematical constant after pi due to it's wide variety of applications.
Also, e is used to calculate exponential growth (Link), as seen in the above spiraling image.
I am still not sure how the dots fit into this but I think we are getting close?

    Roman Numerals

    3-18-15-1-20-15-1-14
It has been suggested that if those numbers were deceiphered using a simple Alpha-Numeric Substitution Cypher (ie, a=1, b=2,c=3) spell out the word "Croatoan".

"Croatoan" was carved into a tree in the settlement of Roanoke. This was the only clue given to the group's leader, John White, after he left back to England to get supplies. The English government officially declared the colony of Roanoke “lost” in 1597. It has since, however, been proven by DNA analysis that the missing settlers/colonists were integrated into the Croatoan Tribe living south of Roanoke. Whether this is simply misleading inforamtion or is of some relevance is not yet known.

Binary code with 4 extra chars (and backwards)
    Dont think this is right...
The binary (101010011110) is odd, as it is 12 characters long and it translates into gibberish. However, reversing the numbers (011110010101) and removing the last 4 numbers to get an 8-character code (011110010101) translates into "y". The Y button is the eject button.

At the top you should provide a summary of what it's all about. To me, it's a history lesson about cavemen slowly building the modern world.

    BUMP.

There is going to be an increased interest in the easter eggs over the next week or so, so just wanted to share this again, it is a summary of all easter eggs found to date and provides a good starting point for anyone looking to get started in helping with this.

I am also in the final stages of writing an article for Kotaku Australia that includes an interview with ANBA about the riddle... exciting times. Everyone get involved. If we all work together, we can solve this before Evolution comes out!

I have seen no evidence that this has occured.

All evidence I have seen suggests that the answer could have been solved a while ago well before Evo.

Maybe it's like the potato thing for Portal and when we solve it Evo will be released.

Re: Mother of all Secrets: Easter Egg summary page

is it definitely not all in some way just linked to 'Evolution' and was meant to be a clue about the next game?

theres so many diverse clues it surely must point to something general rather than specific.

thanks for putting this concise list of clues though, the other thread is a bit daunting to jump into

I actually bumped this for you based off your comments on the other thread... As for finding more eggs, I dont think there are any more. A few of us has asked ANBA who seems to think that we have found all of the clues. The comments suggest that while we think we know what each of them are, perhaps we stopped investigating a little too early.

I suggest you should have a look at the EE thread, find what we are working on and see if you can uncover anything else about the eggs.

Hope to see you and others contributing a bit more. Cheers,
