    Advanced Techniques?

I recently upgraded my crappy computer enough so I could start playing trials 2 again, I also got a xbox wireless controller adapter.

So here's the I'm pretty good at trials hd and I can definitely transfer some of the techniques and skills over between the games, but I'm having trouble doing advanced techniques, anyone have tips? I'm pretty much playing the same way I would on trials hd with my controller and the triggers and analog stick. I can't seem to pull off double bunny hops and wheelie hops or even brake hooks. I've done brake spring jumps so I know some of trials hd's advanced techniques are in this game, but I feel like I should be able to crush the hard tracks, yet seem to fault easily.

    Re: Advanced Techniques?

I don't know man. You've got 19 hours on this game and you're well beyond where I was at that point. I watched a few of your replays and you're obviously quite comfortable with the controller.

Considering that you're coming from an HD background and you're learning the physics and 'feel' of the game all over again, what I've seen looks pretty good. You've got Diablo beat, Inferno down, and only YSNP left. I have no idea how many hours I had before I beat Diablo, but I'm sure it was way over 19. Just as an example, I just checked and I had Diablo at 411 faults and 51 minutes when I was 124:00 hours!

I'd leave it to the really advanced players to speak of technique, but from my experience, I focused on playing the tracks slowly until I could complete them without faults. I got 'promising student' then 'real talent' achievements to get familiar with the tracks long before I was tackling hard tracks with any finesse at all. I know you've played lots of HD, but it's still an impressive start you've got going here.

Thanks for the tips, I think I might try moving slower, cause blowing through the tracks doesn't seem to be working for me. after I past inferno and diablo, I almost passed YSNP, but I pressed the start button at the last checkpoint. grrr. This game makes me feel like a trials noob all over again.

thanks, it took me like 10 tries to get that brake spring jump. I'm trying to get the speed boost achievement, still got 5 seconds to shave off.

    Re: Advanced Techniques?

Hey i got a question about advanced techniques. i'm starting to get the hang of switch jump and spring jump and stuff and getting reasonable times from watching pro replays. (mostly easy tracks for now) btw it's super helpful that it shows the keys being pressed.. the hard part for me now is the timing and combinations of the two tricks.. plus knowing how to balance when you just did a flip and are upside down and heading for the next ramp.. i seem to almost always hit my head on the ramp from not enough forward leaning... or from too much of it. (talking about the tracks slope training and landing procedures for the most part) any more tips out there that might help? i think i just havent had enough practice time.. but maybe i'm doing someone wrong. Thanks.

    p.s. this game rocks !

    Re: Advanced Techniques?

wheelsmoke, before I help I just wanna say it's best to ask for help in the Trials 2 chat as you'll get a quicker response. There's nearly always somewhere there who can try to explain it to you. Also link together your forum account and your Trials 2 profile or give us your T2SE profile name so we can watch your replays to see what's going wrong.

But anyway, now for what I try to do with flips. IMO three things are important when hitting a ramp: rotation (the flip), height and distance. For flips only the rotation and height matter. I've found for large, slow flips (lazy flips) being just more than halfway through the flip at the top of the arc gives you time to work out if you're going to over- or under-flip and react accordingly.

For fast-paced, crazy flips like Slope Training still try to be halfway through the flip by the top of the arc (or, in the case of Slope Training and the downwards flip, just try to figure the timing out yourself. ) , but you'll be flipping much faster so you have less time to react. If that helped...
