    Customs featured at XBLAFans

    Greetings all,

I'm Steve from over at XBLAFans - we've recently started a new feature called "Trials HD Tuesday". Each Tuesday we'll feature a community-made track that we recommend to our visitors. We link to the appropriate YouTube video, write up a few thoughts, post the difficulty and our best time, then a blurb about how to get the track and that they need to thank the user they've downloaded it from. I'm posting it over here multiple reasons:
[list:1kp4189s][*:1kp4189s]To be a sort of warning since you may receive a few more friend requests[/*:m:1kp4189s]
[*:1kp4189s]To ask that you accept CombatantSteve (me) if I send a request so that I can feature your track[/*:m:1kp4189s]
[*:1kp4189s]To seek individual author's permissions to have their tracks featured in a Trails HD Community Pack downloadable from our site via USB. Essentially this would be something that would be a group of all the best tracks I've acquired, exported to USB stick, then uploaded to our server as a pack. If things go well we may do multiple packs. I know previously it's been discussed as to whether USB transfers work, we won't be uploading packs unless we're 100% sure that it's safe, so no worries there.[/*:m:1kp4189s][/list:u:1kp4189s]

We are very much about giving credit where credit is due, as we'd want the same if someone featured us. So there's no need to worry about us stealing your thunder or anything - we'd be burning bridges if we did. Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and give everyone a heads up. Feel free to add me on XBL (see the gamertag above), but please mention that you want to share your tracks, as I normally only have real life friends in the list and know their tags ahead of time.

Sounds good mate, take a look through all the threads here. Many of them have videos of their tracks in them. Iron Warlord and Murdoc are good choices so far!

Is anyone friends with Crowsbeak? We want to feature the 2001: A Space Odyssey track, but his friends list is full.

Most people here have full friend's lists. I'd suggest sending him a message. Also his Space Odyssey stuff is a series of tracks.

BTW, How long has your site been around, and I'm confused by the whole USB downloadable pack thing...

Has the USB track transfer feature been confirmed? I know there were some questions as to whether it would be detected as "modding."

We're coming up on a year now, but our editor-in-chief has been around much longer. It's part of a small network of "fans.com" sites he and a cohort run.

On the USB thing I had just heard about and am going to investigate. The tracks are essentially 72kb save games according to the dashboard, and from what I've read the singatures are not specific to a gamertag/console. I have to test it with members of our staff before implementing it though, we won't post anything that requires resigning the content. That scares folks away.

If there was even the slightest chance of somebody being able 'steal all my hard work', so to speak, then I would definately be 'scared away'. Thanks for answering.

Yep, like I said we're not out to burn bridges. While most of the staff are not professional journalists, some are, and many are aspiring to be. To do something like that would ruin our careers, not to mention being rude to your community in general. If we have to modify the files in any way we're not going to bother. I had just heard that the files could be copied to a thumb drive, taken to a friend's house, copied to their 360 and played there, so I figured the same principal would apply. From what it sounds like everyone's on a different page as to whether that's actually possible.
