Objects move by themselves? No problem!

Have you ever had any trouble placing a few wall materials such as wood and metal plates, then all of a sudden they move even though you didn't rotate them, weird eh?

I have discovered a little something to stop materials from moving altogether, sorry if this has already been mentioned because I only found it today. XD

Well you have lets say: Big wooden plate, now i've noticed when rotating an object by pressing the LB button known as snap. Now after you have used this to hold the object in place, when you have held LB you can select another object, so making wall pieces easy to grab and place, the only problem then if you let go of LB and just press A it lets go of both objects and places them and the objects rotate a bit, frustrating right?

Well if you rotate the objects using LB afterwards, keep HOLD of LB and DESELECT them both by HOLDING LB and pressing A, it keeps them in place and you will have no problems what so ever.

    Thanks for your time.

Re: Objects move by themselves? No problem!

    Further Explained:

17:33:03 ‹Reaper392› its kinda hard to follow what your doing when your not infront of the xbox doing it
20/02/2011 17:33:31 ‹NovaDarkStorm› I know but im sure you get the jist of it right?
20/02/2011 17:33:31 ‹Reaper392› so i cant comment anything useful right now
20/02/2011 17:33:51 ‹Reaper392› nova, im just wondering if it will move once you save, then reload it
20/02/2011 17:34:07 ‹Reaper392› because theres only a limited number of angles that it can save
20/02/2011 17:34:27 ‹Reaper392› you might have just found a way of making it not move before its saved
20/02/2011 17:34:56 ‹Reaper392› for example, if the game only had code to save the plank at 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees
20/02/2011 17:35:08 ‹Reaper392› but you found a way of it displaying at 45 defrees
    20/02/2011 17:35:15 ‹Reaper392› (before you saved)
20/02/2011 17:35:43 ‹Reaper392› it would just pick the closest number to it (90 degrees) and save it at that
20/02/2011 17:36:01 ‹Reaper392› then, when you reload, it will be at 90 degrees
20/02/2011 17:36:10 ‹Reaper392› its my theory on whats happening
20/02/2011 17:36:21 ‹Reaper392› but im very happy to be proven wrong
    20/02/2011 17:36:26 ‹NovaDarkStorm› Well I can't see without looking at a code
    20/02/2011 17:36:31 ‹Reaper392› yeah
    20/02/2011 17:36:37 ‹Reaper392› thats what i was thinking
20/02/2011 17:36:39 ‹NovaDarkStorm› but if I was to look into the ini. files
    20/02/2011 17:36:46 ‹NovaDarkStorm› I could check with that
    20/02/2011 17:36:53 ‹NovaDarkStorm› But I found a way to cheat the system
    20/02/2011 17:37:06 ‹NovaDarkStorm› Just by a mistake though
    20/02/2011 17:37:07 ‹Reaper392› i do hope im wrong
    20/02/2011 17:37:19 ‹NovaDarkStorm› It's like when holding an object
20/02/2011 17:37:21 ‹Reaper392› because that would be very useful
20/02/2011 17:37:26 ‹NovaDarkStorm› and you start rotating it
    20/02/2011 17:37:36 ‹NovaDarkStorm› when you hold LB
20/02/2011 17:37:55 ‹NovaDarkStorm› or when you tap it
    20/02/2011 17:38:03 ‹NovaDarkStorm› it moves correctly
20/02/2011 17:38:22 ‹NovaDarkStorm› But you try to keep it in 0,90,180,270 etc
20/02/2011 17:38:30 ‹NovaDarkStorm› it would move say another 2 degress
20/02/2011 17:38:40 ‹NovaDarkStorm› but if you deselect it
    20/02/2011 17:38:43 ‹NovaDarkStorm› it won't move
    20/02/2011 17:38:57 ‹Reaper392› oh right
    20/02/2011 17:39:00 ‹NovaDarkStorm› Unlike you confirm it's placement pressing A
20/02/2011 17:39:13 ‹NovaDarkStorm› Holding LB and pressing A Deselects it
20/02/2011 17:39:15 ‹Reaper392› if this is trying to keep it at 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees, then your all good
20/02/2011 17:39:17 ‹NovaDarkStorm› if you get me now?
    20/02/2011 17:39:23 ‹NovaDarkStorm› yeah
20/02/2011 17:39:36 ‹Reaper392› rather than it moving it to 88, or 182, etc
20/02/2011 17:39:39 ‹NovaDarkStorm› I might take this convo and place it in now
    20/02/2011 17:39:44 ‹NovaDarkStorm› yeah
20/02/2011 17:39:51 ‹Reaper392› unless the game stores angles in radians
20/02/2011 17:39:52 ‹NovaDarkStorm› That would be the jist of it.
20/02/2011 17:40:07 ‹Reaper392› then it might not work
20/02/2011 17:40:09 ‹NovaDarkStorm› It tries to but it can't do it. Not properly.
20/02/2011 17:40:18 ‹NovaDarkStorm› This is why my solution is working.

Re: Objects move by themselves? No problem!

Remember the self moving objects ONLY happen when you have pressed LB once. So if you have it Defaultly placed, it shouldn't happen. If it does. Rerepeat my theory.

another use for this is when moving a bunch of objects at once into a maximum capacity space, just deselect them all while holding LB. dual purpose trick

Just because it doesn't take up extra room right. hehehe.

Re: Objects move by themselves? No problem!

Just wanted to say thanks for this tip. Many times I've used smaller alternative pieces in places to avoid the movement after placement when using bigger pieces, but the select/deselect method works great for eliminating it.
