Ok, so my Xbox's disc drive finally bit the dust and won't recognize any of the games I put in it. It just keeps saying play DVD. So I am looking at buying a new one and using my old Xbox solely for Trials. Here lies my question, Has anyone heard of any deals on the systems? I've been checking around online but any help would be appreciated. Also, I am looking for the 250g version if that helps. Thanks.
Depends on where you live I guess... how much you want to pay.. if you want any games in the deal... or joypads etc...
Or you could just get a knew drive.. about £30 or $50..???
You can take the top off your x box real easy.. or check YouTube for a video how to do it. And the drive just unplugs real easy to do... I wouldn't get a knew xbox just yet unless you must have one ...
Also you can get 2nd hand hardrives cheap. I got a 160 g for £20 $30 ish...
The new black shiny xbox is no different at all apart from its a bit quieter..
Hope that helps
Yea I've been checking into just swapping the drive out for a while since it's been acting up for a few months now. Controllers really won't matter since I already have three. I'm also not looking into a new one just to replace this one. My wife also plays Xbox alot and she doesn't enjoy watching me build tracks. So if I get a new Xbox, she can play whatever she wants and I can build tracks, also. That's my main goal.
Simple then.. get a cheapo arcade x box ( no harddrive ) put your existing hardrive on that. Give to wife.. and have you broke one for trials.. that would be the cheapest way
Using the old hard drive is a good idea. Did the same thing a year ago when my Xbox died...
But,as far as I know, the "old" HDDs don´t fit in the new Xbox . So you would have to buy an Elite, not the slim model.
Yeah, you won't be plugging in an older model HDD into a slim xbox without some modifications.Originally Posted by xXDonReneXx
I would go with the new arcade idea. Seems best to me.
I wouldn't give up on your xbox just yet. I had the very same problem with mine a few weeks ago, and I tried a few thigs, and now it works perfectly.
What you could try is:
Clear the cache (it's in memory somewhere)
Turn your xbox off, remove the hard drive and all memory units, leave for a while, plug the hard drive and memory units back in, and try your discs.
These might not work, but it's worth giving them a try.
Let me know if they work.
