How do you play Trials HD, I think there was a thread similiar to this (Or a discussion within a thread) a while ago. Do you use the D-Pad, or the analouge stick? A or RT?
Personally I use RT, and the stick. However, recent posts have led me to believe A and the D-Pad is a better choice for speed runners. Is this true?
I mostly use RT and almost always use the analog stick
On some of the easier tracks i will switch to using A because it seems to be a tiny bit faster, especially off the line but on tougher tracks i am much better with the RT
I tried using the d pad a little but it never felt right for me
I'm also curious to see what some of the top riders use ...
RT pressed all the way down is the same as pressing A. Only a few tracks would benefit from using A > RT
Analog all the way; RT, LT and stick. Oh well maybe sometimes D-pad if I need to do a really quick and "sharp" bounce..or some super-duper hard switch jump on some ninja track maybe.
I use RT, LT, X, and the Directional pad.
The triggers are the most important since you need to apply varied amounts of pressure to the gas and the brake in order to be as efficient as possible.
The X button is great because it allows you to apply maximum pressure to the brake instantly. The main use of this is doing a brake flip.
The A button is great because it allows you to apply maximum pressure to the gas instantly.
The X button and the A button should only be used in rare situations and should NEVER be used as a default choice.
Well the analog stick and the RT and LT have an array of movement, where as the d-pad and the A and X buttons don't, so I always use the analog stick and triggers, because it feels more natural and it feels like you have better control of the bike. Yet, because there's no up and down the d-pad could be more precise in performing certain techniques. I tried speed running diabolic and inferno 2 with the d-pad and the A/X buttons because I have the levels particular inputs very well memorized and it didn't seem to make much of a difference. idk You'd have to ask a trials 2 SE beast, because they would probably use the d-pad as it's similar to the arrow keys on the keyboard.
I've been recently trying a new technique of riding where I never let go of the throttle and I use the LT to slow myself when needed, that way when I release the LT I'm still at full throttle.
Where are these posts you're talking about?Originally Posted by T4KShadow
Good info mjay, i have some questions if you can answer...
Can you give me a for instance on the "varied pressure to the gas".Originally Posted by KyoshiYozima
If you or someone could elaborate on this. Situations it would be helpful or not advised etc...Originally Posted by KyoshiYozima

Such as lightly holding down the accelerator to ease up an incline.

I've never used the A button however I would imagine an ideal situation to use this would be for stopping in a section of a track and having to wait for a physics object. Then when it's time to accelerate again you can shave precious milliseconds off of your time by being in full throttle instantly without wasting time pushing in your trigger the whole way.
both redbomber and slinky use the d-pad
