Hey guys!
This thread only really applies to people who can drive i suppose
But i am currently learning to drive (done 28 hours now i think) and i am ready for my final practical test
I had my theory test the other day and scored 50/50 on that, so was well chuffed!
Booked my practical test today but i am going to look for cancellations everyday to try get my test sooner because it is a while away!
But i'm literally nervous already and think that could be the reason i fail, but i'm just calling out for anyone who could give me any useful tips, maybe something theyused on there tests? (Might have to think back lol)
Also, i'd be interested in hearing anyone personal experiences they have had while taking they're Practical Test! xD
Thanks!
I'll be honest. I was the best driver in my driving school group, and I failed my first test. I honestly think it was only because it was the test lady was a TOTAL *****.
The second time I took the test, the lady was new and said I did nothing wrong and she was very nice.
That might not be reassuring but I think it very much depends on how nice/*****y the person is and how their mood is that day. Just take your time, don't run into any cars, and you'll be fine!
Okay thanks man, yeah i've heard about all the instructors here, apparently they are all moody and grumpy and old! So thats a good start! :/
Guess i will have to drive so good that they can't possibly fault me on anything!![]()
Just don't try and do any front flips to get extra speed on the jumps!Originally Posted by Elements1992
examiners want to see that you are safe on the roads and so long as you can physically drive the roads without crashing, its mainly about checking. they want to see you check for dangers and anything else A LOT to show that youre aware.
the best thing to do is, obviously check mirrors/down roads/everything else as often as you can without taking the piss![]()
oh and a tip for all this checking is to act like a meerkat, apparentlybut i mean when you 'check' (look around) make sure you move your head a bit, not just your eyes. make it obvious that you are being aware and theyll love ya.
anyways good luck![]()
As long as you don't fault you should be fine.
I'd also say to keep in mind that you're probably being tested the entire time, even if it's little stuff you may not even realize. Some people think the 'test' doesn't start until they have you do some parallel parking, turning, reversing, etc type stuff. So as soon as you sit in the driver's seat be in the mindset that the test has begun, even if all you're doing at this point is sitting there.
at stoplights and signs, stop well behind the white line, that one got me. Some intersections are no right turn on red, so look for the signs on that. dont speed. dont hit a person.
Haha ok thanks guys.
I've noticed checking your mirrors is VERY important and i got some very good information on how to get round this one;
Position my mirrors so they are impossible to look into if i was just using my eyes, basically i HAVE to turn my whole head in order to see into the mirror, that should work, i best try it on my lessons![]()
In Ireland examiners have to fail a certain percentage everyday even if they have clearly passed, our government loves taking money off us. Not sure what its like in England but best of luck dude.
