    A taste of Trance

Sup riders. I've been a trance guy for years now, and I think it is a very emotional kind of music. When I get chills down my back I know im listening to something beautiful.

I want everybody who reads this to listen to this track and tell me if you like it.

Fire and Ice - Souvenir De Chine - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niu7uv_4qKI

Listen to the whole thing. That way you can experience the emotion the whole way through.

Sounds good i guess. All trance sounds the same to me. Different sounds and tempo but essentially the same. don't even get me started on dubstep.

theres also a couple threads in off-topic for music

    Music Thread

what music do you listen to while playing?

I like the warm synths when they come in and the chord progression is really nice.

Though generally when it comes to electronic music I prefer braindance, experimental and a bit of breakcore over trance/techno/house styles.

    Just a few examples-

At first I thought to myself, "wow this is absolute garbarge, how can someone call this music".

But then......I remebered what slinky wrote

So I kept listening and thought, " This isn't as bad as I originaly thought, It's ok".

I kept listening some more and realized, "Wow this is worse than I originally thought it was, I would rather eat a healthy portion of dog s**t than listen to this or anything like this ever again."

After the song was over i concluded to myself, "I will never listen to trance again".

    Just my opinion though.

It's a good song...but i'd rather masturbate with a cheese grater than here that again...
or have the strongest men in the world play tug of war with my ballsack....or lie under an elephant with diarrhea with my mouth popped open than here that again, or......meh you get the point.

But neverless, it's not a 'bad' song.

Trance is my favorite music. I needed to listen only to the first 30 seconds and I knew I would like the rest. However, there are a lot of other songs I like more. My favorite artist would have to be Tiesto. When I'm on my computer I like to listen to: http://www.discovertrance.com/tunein.aspx

its a nice tune and i COMPLETELY agree with the 'listen to the whole thing' comment.

in other genres you get the feel of a track from the beginning. its not the case here. i agree the chord progression was nice and emotional trance is far better than the more grittier stuff you sometimes hear. i also listened to the track sly posted and i quite enjoyed that too. that being said, i find trance music feels a bit rushed.

i used to listen to trance and other similar stuff (tiesto's mix of silence by delerium) but as i heard more and more of the whole 'house' genre, my taste went more toward Progressive House.

Prog House is all about the build-up. so you may listen and think "no thanks" as i did at first but when a tune starts out small and simple and gradually grows, its a great feeling to listen to it and let it take you. imo anyway

i'll post a couple of masterpieces... that will probably not be enjoyed by most of you metalheads or more likely not even listened to

MELO - Pryda (Eric Prydz) - my most played on iTunes, still gives me shivers sometimes, its a beaut.

STROBE - Deadmau5 (Joel Zimmerman) - starts off slow and mysterious and builds up to a beastly drop at about 6:40.

if you do listen, give them a chance, this stuff takes getting used to, let them grow on you.. those two artists really are geniuses at this stuff.

If just one person, even a no-name just passing thru, listens to these and thinks "willyums has a point!", ill be happy
