If Redlynx announced another 10 track dlc pack due out in February, consisting of only user-created tracks from a competition, what would you do differently?
different theme?
different difficulty?
more focus on line?
more attention to the decor?
more physics?
now my track was decorated, consistent and had a tricky but fun plat line but other than that it just wasnt good enough in comparison and frustratingly i know i could have produced something much better. so for me, its a pretty simple: 'Make a better track.'![]()
But for a lot of you, the tracks you made were superb and, in my opinion at least, are of a sufficient standard to be mixed in with Big Thrills easily.
Now this is in NO WAY a stab at the winning tracks, ive played them all, i like them all (even laser tag, kind of) and i think they all deserve to be there. i was just wondering if anyone would take a different game plan if a similar competition was to be done again.
And ive gotta say, i only got Big Thrills yesterday and Redlynx really delivered with these new tracks, theyre incredible!!
I would submit something, at all
Nah, but yeah, I feel like I could create a great track if I dedicated as much time to a track as a track that was going to be entered into a DLC competition![]()
I don't know if I would have done anything differently. I tend to build a track and just make the first obstacle and see where it leads me and I don't think that will ever change; it's just my style.
I actually would have submitted a different track. One I named Shifty-Construction.
more:
gimmicks
flat spots
custom cam
physics
less:
difficulty
bumps
gaps
fatality
That's very true, but that was to get into the DLC.Originally Posted by heetsauce
I have never made my tracks like that and I was never going to veer off from my style just to snag a spot.
But this is all assuming you knew about the final outcome of the regular contest and now have a second chance to redo it. You'd really risk your guaranteed winning track submission to enter something different?Originally Posted by ShiftySamurai
Yes, as it isn't really anything like my style. It's kinda a one off track. Don't get me wrong, I loved the fact that it made it in, and I enjoy the track, but it doesn't really fit with the tracks I usually make.Originally Posted by FlipTaco
I kinda made it so that Dosto would shut up, I made a track a while back named BurnNRubber, and he enjoyed it, and it was even in the TrialsHD.net Season 2. He wanted me to make a second track, and I had already finished the line in my original DLC track. So I made TouristTrap/RoadKill, and he played it, then most of the people in chat played it, and they said "Dude, use this one." So I did.
It's based off of a pretty short track I made ONE time, and not really a track I would have envisioned myself making. If you play Roadkill, and send me a request expecting more tracks of that nature, you will be disappointed.
I would pack it with physics and gimmicks. Make awkward jumps to increase difficulty and let my brother test the driving line to see how well it flows. And once it's all done I will throw in as many custom cameras as possible so I can make it look really cool.
