Iron Warlord's BTS Contest - Winners + Top Ten

Trials HD Build To Skill Contest
Hello Trials HD fans! It's time again to show off your skills with the editor and win some sweet prizes. Create a technical skill game using either Hill Climb or In Flames. Submissioms are limited to 2 per person.

Judging: From each judge, submissions will receive a score from 1 to 5 in five different catagories, and each category will be worth a percentage of the overall possible score. If you choose to submit 2 entries then only the highest scoring one will be used to determine prize winners. This way no one can win twice.

    - Driving Line (25%) - The driving line tests the skill of the player.

    - Difficulty Progression (25%) - The track starts off relatively easy and gradually gets harder the further you progress. The ending should not be sudden. It should always be possible to improve by a small amount.

    - Atmosphere/Detail (20%) - The track has a distict and unified look, and the details are creative.

    - Fun/Replayability (20%) - The track is enjoyable and it generates a motivation to improve. In general, it just has to be fun.

    - Overall Effort (10%) - The track looks well thought out and doesn't seem sloppy.

    How To Enter:
Name you track "BTS-gamertag-1" and for a second entry "BTS-gamertag-2".
Next, send a friend request to each judge. Include a message stating that you have a submission for the Build To Skill Contest and be sure its uploaded to your file share.

The submission period ends on February 1st.

I'd like to see a skill game contest, but i doubt others do.

I've been fascinated by lighting recently. In one day i happened to play all Grimms tracks he had up, then Redriders Preserve and the lighting in those was top notch.

If i'm understanding the question correctly you could have best line, best deco, funnest ride, best overall.

One month sounds about right, enough time to plan and build and tweak i assume.

Probably. If it's people we all know its one thing but you don't want random3849 making you try 5 crap tracks, altho there's always the chance a unheard of person makes a splash.

MS points are always cool, but unique Trials swag is the best. A shirt, or poster/original art Trials related is likely to get more entries than just points unless it's alot of points.

I think that for each category, each person is allowed a maximum of 1 entry. Some category ideas are Best Physics, Most Aesthetically Pleasing, Best Technical Track, Best Skill Game, Best Beginner Track, Best Extreme Track, Overall Best, etc.

Judging categories: Hard to say, depends on personal preferences. Also, like DavidTis said, I think it depends on what the theme will be.

Contest length: A month sounds fair to me.

Limited submissions: Yes, I think creators will put more heart and effort into their submission it if the limitation is 1 track. In a logistic perspective this will probably also be an advantage for the judges, as they don't have to chew through countless tracks.

Prizes: I love MS points! That would be my no.1 choice. I do have to say that some Trials HD clothing would be awesome as well.

Great initative Warlord, I look forward to more details on the comp.

I'm not a track designer, BUT i figured I'd give my 2 cents

-What judging catagories would you like to see... or not see?
I would say limit the number of categories, to maybe 3. Suggestions: Best overall. Best atmosphere. Best fun factor.

    - How long would be an ideal contest length?
    1 month.

    - Should there be a limit to the number of submissions?
I would definitely think it should be limited to 1 per person. That was the creator will put everything they have to make that one track perfect. It would make the judging easier, and it would also most likely result in some SICK new tracks for the custom community to enjoy!

    - What types of prizes would you like?
MS Points are always good. Maybe RedLynx could help get a spotlight on RedLynx TV for the best track?

#1 I hope redlynx helps with this one prizes for fist should be atleast 60 dollars worth that was been the average for past comp. But is really like to see the points that were in the video comp held recently that would def motivate builders other prizes could be redlynx gear. Avatar gear. A copy of battlefield bc2 lol. I'd love a tshirt.

There should be a set difficulty mediums and hard imo. It's just more fun to play them for the average player.

Who are the judges? If u need one I'm game Mr warlord I will still build a new track but not enter. Veitnam is coming out hard to build with a game pike that coming

Is love a theme to go with but not everyone likes themes

Driving line should be top judging catagory past competitions have completely disregarded this imo.

A month and a half is better imo. I like the skill game idea but I like racing so much better more replay in them.
