I don't think I've ever felt so cheated in a video game before. I worked for months off-and-on to get that achievement, and nothing happened save for a message: 'achievement cannot be awarded because profile is not logged in'

No, I was pretty clearly logged in. I wouldn't have a big zero next to my Gamertag if it wasn't so

Just do it again. You got a silver so go for gold this time. That way it won't be wasted time.

If it still doesn't unlock, go for platinum.
