    Re: Friend request ediquette

Very nice thread, a sticky would be nice.

I personally accept people that send me messages like "add me" "trials" or "tracks" but it's not the way i prefer to do things, when I want to play someone's tracks I usually compliment them and ask politely, i.e. "Hi, your trials tracks are amazing, I would apreciate it if you could add me"

I also don't like to receive party and chat requests from people I have no prior history with.

I hope now I only get requests from people who have read this forum page first!

Good point Crowsbeak, this gets really annoying. The worst example for me is when one kid endlessly asked me how to build a cart, and the thing is I haven't put any carts in any of my tracks so far, so when did I become the authority on how to make one? Like you said, find a tutorial and learn what you can instead of badgering people about it that you've just met.

Well I have just recently started getting alot of requests from random people. And personally, I don't mind adding people that send a "trials" or "tracks" message. What I will not usually accept is a request with no message whatsoever. I have in the last couple a weeks actually gotten a few that say they "found your GT on the forums and would like to give your tracks a try." That is a perfect way to go about it in my opinion. Just don't send a random request with no indication of who you are or what you want. Seems kind of rude to me. Just my two cents.

A bit off topic maybe, but I was looking for a thread about how people share their tracks and how people prefer we (the creators) share them.

Obviously I'm not talking about the technical part, but in specific how often to change sets and so on. I usually have the newest 7 up, but I also see many others change sets on a regular basis, some even every day.

What's the "Normal" way of doing it? Am I a lazy gollum-esque bastard for not rotating by myself or don't people care? I mean, people ask if they want more right?

    Cheers all!

Personally, I keep what I perceive to be my best 7 tracks up. If people want more and message me asking for others then I rotate them for them next time I'm on Trials (if I'm not already) until they've got all the ones they want and then rotate them back again afterwards. I'm perfectly happy to let people have which ever of my tracks they want so if anyone is missing some (all my tracks are numbered and currently have videos) just tell me which ones and I'll make them available for you.

Most of the time people send friend requests without sending messages or even saying thanks, therefore I don't feel obliged to let them know when I swap tracks (which is usually a few tracks per week--just keep checking). If people are really nice I may swap them all on the spot for them. If I get some nice comments you will usually stay on my friend's list a bit longer (it's called positive reinforcement, kids).

Depending on the number of requests I get I might delete you the same day if I've seen you been playing Trials--so get the tracks as soon as possible. If you have a stupid name I will definately delete you the same day.

LOL! So THAT's why I'm off you list- I have quite a stupid name No, but really, thx for the thoughts, you raise some good points! I will probably just keep doing it the way I do it now.. Which is doing nothing at all

    Cheers!
