    Friend request ediquette

There are many great track makers on this forum, and almost all of them struggle with the 100 friend limit. The most well known track makers get 10-20 (perhaps more?) messages a day from people wanting to play the tracks. It becomes a time consuming task to try and make sure everyone gets a chance to play their tracks.

I wanted to put up a few guidelines that might ease the stress for the track makers and up your chances to get on their list.

    1. If you send a request, send a polite message along with it stating who you are and what you want. Something along the lines of "I am ...... from the forums and I would love to play your tracks".

    2. Their friends list is full. This is the most likely scenario for most popular track makers. When this happens, simply send a polite message saying something along the lines of "I am .... from then forums and I would love to play your tracks". More often than not the track maker will deleate someone from their list to make room and send you a friend request.

    3. Be patient. Our lives dont revolve around the xbox. For me personally, I have a 3 year old that likes to play some games. She obviously wont return any messages right away. A lot of us might be watching Netflix, we wont pause what we are watching to read your message right away. Perhaps we are simply playing a game and dont want the interruption. The point is, we will get to the messages eventually.

    4. Be polite. I have used the word polite a few times, and with good reason. With all the incoming requests, we dont have a problem with ignoring somebody who is being a jerk. We will save that open spot for someone else.

    5. One message is fine. This goes hand and hand with number 3 and 4 above. We might not get to your friend request right away. Sending another message wont help your cause, especially if they get more aggressive with each one. I keep reiterating that we get a lot of requests. Messages like "All you have to do is hit accept" give us a good reason to ignore you and save a spot for someone less of a *****.

    6. Deleate after download. Help us out some, after you get the tracks, deleate yourself from the friend list. Help us to make room for others.

    7. Some simply wont accept you, sorry, but deal with it. If someone wont accept your request or return your message, that is their deal and business. They have their reasons. Dont send hate messages, there are plenty of other track makers that will accept you, so move on to them.

    8. Dont get mad if we dont play your tracks. You may have some tracks you want us to play, and they might be freakin awesome. Some of us spend almost all our time in the editor. Some of us already have 400+ tracks from other people. Some of us have dozens of tracks we downloaded that we have yet to play. Some might be glad to play your track, some might not want to be bothered. I think its fine to mention you have tracks and would like us to play them, but dont get discouraged if we dont get around to it, some of us are just really busy.

Obviously, I cant speak for everyone. If you want to add anything or disagree with anything I wrote down, please feel free to let me know. I can edit this post no problem.

I think many track creators will appreciate this. Great job!

Nice and reasonable - I think these are great guidelines. Sticky?

I wish this was possible for people with Silver accounts. I have missed out on some awesome tracks by some legendary track builders because I can't send messages to people not on my friends list with a silver account. Luckily, its free gold weekend, I will be sending out some requests today.

I hate that as well, I get it a lot. I get "tracks?" or "trials?" It's like I know you can't be sending soo many FR that it's so time consuming just to make a sentence.

I like this thread though, very much needed for a LOT of people wanting to play others customs. It does need to be a sticky.

One other reason why your msg or FR doesn't get answered right away, is if all of the people in the current slots don't have all of the tracks yet. Just wait a few days and your FR/msg will be responded to or a FR will be sent your way.

Here's a big one for me personally: I have no desire to chat with random kids over Xbox live. Just send a friend request or a polite message.
