Is there a way to black out one room?

There is a section of my track that sends you down a long ramp into a room and then there is jump across that room that triggers 3 "Big Bombs", I don't want to have the entire map dark, I just want the one room to be blacked out. Is it possible?

Try making black point lights from the DLC?

I know you are trying to learn all you can about the editor, and that is great.

I suggest you just experiment and try to figure some of this stuff out. For me personally I get more fun and satisfaction from learning through trial and error. That is my opinion at least, almost everything I know about the editor has been learned from experimentation, not having the information handed to me. Personally, I think its a better way to learn. Others may (and probably will) disagree with me.

I've wanted to do something like this as well (not the black point light, but rather the one dark room) but I've never gotten around to trying it.

You could always lower the light on the whole track and add lights into the rest of it if that suits your purpose, because I know that works. You might also try building a "room" out of solid objects to block light sources. However, ambient light and dust colour will still affect the room, so you would have to set those at acceptable levels to make the room look the way you want it. You may even end up with some sunlight colour in there. It seems like a lot of planning would have to go to that one room, and you'd have to build the track around it..

I can't think of anything else to try, or someone else who has done something similar.

In addition to what jook said, this forum is generally used for the sharing/announcement of new tracks. We normally use the Level Editor Forum for our "how to" questions. I definitely don't want to discourage the questions, because that's how many of us learn. In the future, try posting in the Level Editor forum, and maybe run some searches (link at the top) and you might find more answers to your questions.

Thanks. I didn't even think to try that. I will try it though.

In Response to both lespritdelescalier & Jook13. Thank you both for the tips and advice. Coming here to ask was my last resort. In the beginning I was just asking every little thing on the forums, but then I finally got a hang of things and I have been trying to learn on the fly.

I did darken the entire map, but I have swinging hammers, and some other cool physics stuff I put into my new map and I want them to be visible. Right now I am maybe leaning towards, just darkening the entire track and created trigger activated pointlight lights for the rest of the track, except for that one room.

I also tried to block out the light in that room, I tried to apply concrete blocks and wood walls to the top and sides of the entire room, but like you said, the room still wasn't darkened out. After about 3 hours of tinkering with it last night, I ended up in the same spot I started at.

That is why I came on here and asked. I find most of the stuff I have questions about on youtube now, just wasn't able to find anything about singling out one room.

It's all good man - questions are good! Like I said, I'm not entirely sure how to accomplish this one either.

Dont take what I said the wrong way, ask away if you cant figure it out. I personally get more satisfaction from playing with the tools and figuring things out, not following other peoples instructions. But yeah, the editor section of these forums is there just for people to learn the editor. I suggest watching Euphoric Fusions tutorials, there are some cool things to learn there.

Blocking all wall blocks in the room will only block out sunlight. You will need to have your ambient light set to zero for the room to be entirely black.
And Jarret telling you to make "black point lights"... I'm sure he is just trying to wind you up
