    Re: Ninja Track Video Leaderboard

Ok, I'll weigh in on this debate.

Obviously Ninja is not a "defined" difficulty since it's not in the game, and defining a track as Ninja is often very subjective depending on the opinion of the builder or rider.

That being said, the RedLynx team obviously made judgement calls about the difficulties of in-game tracks as well. The only difference is a limited number of tracks (compared to the thousands of user-made tracks out there), and a limited number of people analyzing these tracks and determining the difficulties. If every potential Ninja track was built and analyzed by the same person (or small team of people) then the difficulty would be more defined.

Of course this is not the case. Does this make Ninja an invalid difficulty rating? I think not.

Many of the supposed Ninja tracks out there are clearly significantly more difficult than any of the in-game Extreme tracks, while others are in more of a grey area. RedLynx obviously had to put a cap on the difficulty of the game since it's already extremely challenging for the average casual gamer. Just because there is no "official" difficulty beyond Extreme doesn't mean it can't exist in the infinite realm of custom tracks.

Of course since there's no way to limit the amount of Ninja tracks that are created or the number of people that decide to "qualify" a track as Ninja, there will always be debate and disagreement in this area.

But seriously, to take an extreme example (lulz)... no one can claim that Brown Boxes and Treetops are really just variances within the same difficulty. The difference in how challenging these tracks are is as significant as the difference between Middle Name: Danger and Prison Break.

Why make Extreme a difficulty that is 5 times broader than other difficulties? Subcategorizing it further into Extreme, Ninja Level 1, Ninja Level 2, Ninja Level 3, etc really just helps players know more accurately how difficult these tracks are without having to analyze them themselves.

Of course, as I said, in a world of tracks that is constantly evolving, there will always be debate! New tracks will get added, some will get "disqualified" as Ninja by the creators or the collective opinions of other riders, some will get moved between the different levels of Ninja with the ultimate goal of having a comprehensive list of tracks that are clearly harder than anything in the game, arranged roughly by their increasing difficulty.

I for one am very grateful that such a list is being put together by jhop. I love the challenge of Ninja tracks, and having a list like this helps me to "work my way up the ladder" rather than having to spend a bunch of time on my own to analyze and determine which Extreme tracks are on par with the ones in the game, which ones are a little harder, significantly harder, and MUCH harder.

It's never going to be as "defined" as official difficulties, but I say let's keep this list evolving and let's keep the floor open to debate! After all, compared to the total number of Trials players out there, the list of us players that really enjoy these insanely difficult tracks is quite short!

/End of rant... I ended up typing a lot more on this subject than I had intended!

Yep. and you can't download the tracks until you are on that creator's friends list.
