I was told by someone on here that the size limit on tracks is 8KB.
So I understand that everything I add to my track increases the size of my track.
My Question is, does every wall block that I delete decrease the size of my track?
This might sound weird, but it actually increases the size of the track. If you delete too many wall blocks, the editor will slow down, because it takes more memory to render the empty space than it does to just show a wall texture.Originally Posted by texasmade84

Is there anything else that could be causing the lag? It only happens in one section of the track.
Is there lights in that one spot? Trying to render too many shadows will make the game lag.Originally Posted by texasmade84

other things - explosions, too many objects with physics on them, basically anything that causes movement on screen at the time.
The explosions could be way off in the background, but they can still cause lag.
jar, quit pimping your own topic.
Thanks for the tips. No lights. I added some fire, about 4 of them, with animation, but I took the fire out and the lag is still there.Originally Posted by lespritdelescalier
Does dust create lag? I am using it for a "snowing" effect. Other than that I have no animation OR physics in that area, besides the checkpoint.
I did delete some extra wall blocks, but in front of the ride liine. Don't know if this makes sense, but if the ride line was my tv, then the wall blocks I deleted were located where my couch is. Out of site once the track is being run. I did that so I could go up freely when I was zoomed out. I may go back and add them back in now and see what happens.
Sorry if this doesn't make sense. This is my first track, so I'm learning on the job.
It's all good - questions are how you learn. You can hit up the level editor forum here too, where there's lots of stuff to read: http://redlynxgame.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=54
The dust could cause lag - I guess it really depends on how much you're using. Usually an increase in objects/lights/etc in the area that it slows down causes the lag. sometimes stuff happening close by off-screen can do it. How many dust objects have you used in that area?
Deleting a few wall blocks won't cause the track to lag. You should be able to delete hundreds of wall blocks before you run into any trouble. Even then, I'm not sure it'll make the actual riding slow down at a certain point. It's more likely to cause slow load times.
