Shadow's Guide to the Underground Shortcut!



Let me start by saying I was completely against this shortcut, as in I believe it ruined riding skill on the particular level. However, as the saying goes; "Adapt or Die", and "In order to beat them you must join them", even if you don't want too. I was first without the shortcut but this didn't give me enough points in comparison to everyone else, so I had to do it. I had spent hours upon end trying the normal method that people use, fully accelerating from the start line. It never got me anywhere and I never made it up there once, but after using this tecnique I did it within ten minutes, although it wasn't fast the first time.

Okay first thing's first, this shortcut was discovered almost a year ago (Youtube Video Proof), and out of 1.1 million players who play Trials, only just over 1000 have managed to pull off this shortcut, I believe this is because they;
a) either don't know about it
b) cannot pull it off

Hopefully this guide will aid both of those points.

The method I will be showing you today is alot easier than I see most people using, and in some ways it's not neceserraly slower, because as you can see by my replay, you can get in the top 100 atleast, I believe I could have achieved top 10 if I hadn't had ruined a flawless run.

This guide uses a video, showcasing a slowed down run I did, so you can clearly see what I did, when I did.

PLEASE NOTE THIS GUIDE WILL NOT GARUNTEE YOUR SUCCESS, BUT MERELY INCREASE THE LIKELYHOOD.

Okay, the succes rate of this method is alot higher than the way the top guys do it, but you WONT do it consistently. Depending on how far you go back changes your chances. If you reverse all the way back then you've got a higher chance of success, but it will be slower, but obviously if you've never done it before you won't really mind what time you get.

Let's begin.
Obviously you'll need to load up Trials HD and head to the medium tracks, and select the track 'Underground'. As soon as the countdown ends hit reverse, without pressing anything else, and reverse all the way back (Atleast your front tire behind the starting post). Once you're far enough back fully hold in the right trigger aswell as holding forward on the left analouge stick.
Once you about to drop of the end of the starting platform, switch from holding right and move the analouge stick to the bottom - left (Roughly inbetween down and left), now simply continue to hold this all the way.
Once you actually leave the starting platform release the right trigger, as this will prevent you from smashing through the wood.

Hopefully you'll go flying through the wood, and then this will (Somehow) launch you high enough for you to land cleanly on the pipes. Remember to adjust you position so you don't get caught on the edge of the pipes and fall off.
Once you land on the pipes gun it and hop off the pipes and onto the long flat platform that is this shortcut. This will skip the entire level except for the last little hill climb.

Now once you reach the end of the long blocks, you have two choices.
You can either do it the fast way or the safe way, if this is your first run then I strongly sugges you take the safer route, as not to fail and break a pad. As you reach the end of the last block hold left on the analouge stick.

If you want to do it fast land on you back wheel and go straight into a hop by pushing forward, this should launch you far enough to land on the final little flat (As seen in my run). Be careful not too flip though.
There's another, faster method;
Land on your back wheel like before, but this time when you hop continue holding forward to you do a front-flip, you should succesfully land (Just about) with your back wheel on the final platform, and you'll go speeding over the finishing line (Like seen in the top 10 runs). However it is possible to smash your head on the floor, which I have done (Ouch!).

Like mentioned before I strongly suggest you take it nice and slow on your first succesful run, as not to make some mistakes.

That's pretty much it for this guide. I made it sucessfully about 50 times in short periods over the past two days, so as you can see it is easier than the faster method, and isn't neceserrily slower.

Please watch the supplied video as it will help you understand what I've talked about in the above wall of text. It will also help you with timings and positions. In my run however the hop I did on the pipes is not necessery, it was just to produce a faster time.

Like I said it's alot easier, did you make it onto the pipes? I found getting through the wood the hard part, I only failed about 5% of the time not getting on the pipes, once was in the video I recorded.

I added the video you found, I did actually did see that, but mis-read the date, and so I put 9 months ago. Also, the video I keep referring too in the OP is still uploading (Damn Youtube!), it's now 90% done so I'll add it to OP once it's done.
