Okay, after reading the forums (every thread in the first 5 pages) I decided something.
RedLynx, you have a talent. You've brought several new things to Trials 2 and you've changed the gaming industry forever.
For example, where Avalanche Software took 4 months making a patch that fixed 9 trivial problems you took it a step further and made a game you can't actually patch. You one-upped Avalanche there, let me tell you.
Explain why you can't update the boxed editions and why you can't make a specific patch for users to install on their copy of T2SE. Explain why you can't modify the server code to NOT accept scores from an out-of-date copy of T2SE. We've waited a fairly long time for 1.09, surely we can wait even longer while you develop copies of the patch that work with the boxed editions.
Canceling it because you messed up sort of makes me feel like you don't care and didn't think it through at all, a sort of "let's release versions without checking how they handle updates for some extra cash" or "we got their money, let me just write this post saying we're gonna release 1.09 and let's hit the pub."
Then a few months later wrote "we can't do 1.09 because we employed too many different installers and copy protection methods" and then counted the cash you made from the Steam half-price weekend and the basically broken boxed editions laughing maniacally with thunder rolling in the background in true Evil Corporation Inc. style.
And then there's the exploits. Most other game companies employ a workaround until they get a patch released to fix it. It took nearly a year before AkaM suggested you remove the Wheelie tracks from the rankings (which were making the ranking completely unfair) before you did it. You promised us a patch but as for what happened read above (if you've already read above then you don't have to go back, the text hasn't changed).
And that's not to mention the fact that the people who cheated on the Wheelie tracks cheated in more or less the same way as the people who cheat on the Flip tracks (they gave themselves bogus scores) but they aren't banned like you said cheaters will be in the EULA.
Section 4f: "You may not use macros or other means of automatically providing keystrokes to the Game or any other means of cheating when playing in online mode."
Section 4h: "Failure to comply with the restrictions and limitations contained in this section will result in the immediate termination of the license granted in this agreement, revocation of your access to the game server ..."
This seems clear enough to me and probably anyone who can read English beyond the level of a 5-year-old but I don't think anyone has actually read this, explaining why nobody reported the high-ranking players for cheating on the Wheelie tracks, why they were never actually accused of cheating any why they've got away with cheating, breaching the terms of the EULA and making the game unfair for everyone who refuses to cheat without being punished like you promised. It's either the fact nobody read it or favouritism, but who the hell would favour a cheater?
inb4 "you cheated for Top Dog and released a track that lets people get Top Dog easily."
My response is this: I cheated for Top Dog, got it removed and earned it properly.
HarmLess was the first person to release Leap of Faith but took the download link down because someone said it might be thought of as cheating.
Like that bothers anybody in this game.
My agree is on your site
A little too dramatic for my tastes. Once upon a time I might have agreed with you on certain points, but I believe there are a few things to factor in here. Namely that Redlynx is (or was, but probably still is) understaffed and are pretty much always swamped with work. THD I'm sure takes up 90% of their time and with such a bestseller it's probably in their best interest to devote their time to that. As much as I LOVE t2se, and you all know I do, I understand their decisions from a business point of view.
The wheelie thing is also a bit of a grey area and not as black/white as you think. What are they gonna do, ban everyone who uses it? LOL. That's farewell to a whole bunch of top10 players, plus a bunch of nonames who simply didn't know better but to use it. Yeah, it took them a long time to exclude wheelies from the rankings, I didn't like how they handled that situation either. It seemed to be a bunch of technical mumbo jumbo & Steam issues (or whatever) and that's not my area of expertise at all.
But I think overall Redlynx has treated us well considering the game's low price. Saying they suck when they almost always try to listen to us is too harsh in my book. Redlynx support has always been swift whenever I've needed it, maybe I'm just lucky but that's my experience. It's not really realistic to expect them to crank out a 1.09 now, both for THD reasons and the fact that the game is now what, over 3 years old? Yeah, something like that.
Personally I would have absolutely loved a 1.09 with fixed wheelies and whatnot, but I don't think so. It's probably too much work for a relatively small reward.
Cliffsnotes: Understaffed, technical mumbo jumbo, Steam problems. Watch sebbbi/Jorma come in and say the same things.
All i have to say is shut the **** up.No one cares about your crying and boo-hooing.And Trials 2 sucks ****,move on.
Trialsaddict, weren't you the guy who started crying when I called your thread the noobiest thread in history, saying something like "God I hate ppl like you" suggesting you don't like flames on the internets?
in b4 ban imo
Top marks for effort, Alessandr0.
I'll agree when I find another $10 game that gives me 400+ hours of enjoyment.
I agree that they nearly always listen and implement what we wanted.Originally Posted by NorfaiR
It's just a shame it all ended up on XBLA when there was talk about it being released on PSN as well. Not a single Xbox-only game appeals to me enough to buy an Xbox, and I won't buy on just for THD. There's a multitude of games that cater to my taste that are PS3-exclusive so I bought that. If they had enough time to build the game for Xbox why couldn't they use some of the $4,000,000 they earned (if it's $10, no idea of the price) to get someone to port it to the PS3. And PSP. And PC.
And a toned-down version for my Atari Jaguar, for the retro, dude.
I agree with this, it's somewhat more difficult to discern than 1000 flips on F1... But we can assume most, if not all, of the people who are better than SYLAR have glitched the Wheelie tracks. A second chance should work there, wipe everyone who has beaten SYLAR by cheating (he deserves #1, he owns at wheelies). If they do it again it wasn't just to get a high score, they're doing it for Top Dog and deserve to be banned, especially since the scores don't count anymore.Originally Posted by NorfaiR
The lack of 1.09 isn't the main thing that's annoying me, it's their complete incompetence at implementing it. They released boxed versions that couldn't install the patch through the auto-update function. If they had waited before releasing the boxed versions they could have released 1.09 and released pre-patched boxed editions. Maybe releasing 1.09, refusing games earlier than 1.09 to submit scores to the leaderboard (or have their own, I don't know), and give people the option to get their money back to buy the Steam version so they can play up-to-date. Or not, it's only £5.Originally Posted by NorfaiR
There's an argument there, but I haven't quite figured it out yet. I'll add it when I figure it out but in the meantime pretend I've made a valid point so awesome you're shocked.Originally Posted by NorfaiR
Who mentioned crying and boo-hooing? This is a rage thread, not a bawww thread. There's a difference, dips*hit.Originally Posted by Trialsaddict
Liking Trials 2 is a matter of opinion. Releasing THD on a console I haven't got, I hate and on which you have to pay monthly to play online is ****. I play T2SE because I enjoy getting pissed off every time I make a simple, yet unforgiving, mistake.
You disagree RedLynx made a ridiculously stupid mistake when they released a game they couldn't update?Originally Posted by Solarlite
I want more tracks in the Downloadable section that count towards my global ranking since making my own is out of the question and only four fan-designed tracks have been released.
Variety is fun, playing the same 59 tracks gets boring after a while. For me, at least.
@ Aless: Don't worry, you always shock me.![]()
The one thing I agree fully with is that SYLAR got cheated of his #1 on Pohjanmaa, and whoever's best without the glitch on w2 and w3 as well. Having a #1 in this game is a huge brag because of how hard it is now, so it's sad to see top wheeliers (word) getting completely cheated off a fully legit Top dog. Dunno how they can clear out the glitchers though without ppl coming back and doing it all over again.
