[Tut] How to share tracks with everyone! [No FRs needed]

This thread is not a place to complain about mods or modders. Take it elsewhere.

This method will allow you to share tracks made by yourself and your friends without people having to bother you on Xbox LIVE by sending friends requests and messages asking you to remove someone if your friends list is full.

I will try to make the steps simple as I can so there will be a fair number but I want to make this as easy as possible.

    -----

    What you will need:

    - Modio - Link
    - USB Xtaf - Link
    - A USB Storage device set-up to store Xbox 360 Game saves.
    - The track files uploaded by the creator.

Uploading so other people can play your tracks:

    1. Insert your USB device into your Xbox and copy the tracks you wish to share to your USB device.

    2. Open USB Xtaf and then open 'Data Partition' > 'Content' > Your profile ('E0000...') > '5841095A' > '00000001'

    3. Drag the files to a folder and open each one in Modio.
    - Once you have opened a file in Modio press "Null ID's"

    - Do this for every track you wish to share. I suggest creating two folders one called 'To do' and one called 'Done. First move all the the files into the 'To do' folder and one-by-one do the above step and then move them into the 'Done' folder. This should make uploading tracks less confusing.

    4. Add the files to a folder, compress and then upload to a site such as MediaFire. In the zip folder you should place a text file explaining who made each track.

    Playing other creators maps:

    1. Insert your USB device into your Xbox and copy your profile and Trials HD to the device.

    2. Insert the device into your computer and open USB Xtaf.
    - Open 'Data partition' > 'Content' > Your profile ('E0000...') > 'FFFE07D1' > '00010000'.
    - Drag the file you find onto your desktop. (You should create a backup somewhere.)

    3. Open this file in Modio.

    4. Open any tracks you wish to play on in Modio.

    - Click "Rehash and Resign" on the track file and close it. (Not Modio)

    5. Once you have done this you are ready to place that track into your USB device.

    - Open USB Xtaf and then open 'Data Partition' > 'Content' > Your profile > '5841095A' > '00000001'. Place the track file there.

    - Click 'File' > 'Close Drive' and remove the USB device from your PC and insert it into your Xbox 360.

    - Reverse step one to copy your profile and Trials HD back onto your HDD.

There you go, you should now be able to play other people's tracks without sending them a friend request and having to wait to be accepted.

Please post links to your tracks below. I really think this can become a good way to share tracks but it will take some effort from you guys!

If you have any problems or questions please post them below and I will try my best to help you out.

    Thanks,

You should mention that doing it this way poses a BAN risk almost on par with being silly enough to have a modded color on your Avatar.

This is a console ban waiting to happen.

No, not really. All you are doing is moving some files, not actually modifying anything.

I did it briefly in order to take that image and I know people who have their avatars permanently coloured who are not banned.

Wrong. Console bans are rare and are only used for the most extreme cases. For example stealing someone's account and spending hundreds of dollars of their money.

Now if you don't mind I didn't make this thread for people to whine about modding. Take it elsewhere.

Hey, I think what Shifty is trying to say here is more of a warning rather than whining, and that this may violate several sections of the XBOX Live Usage Agreement. You ARE modifying a container file that the XBOX created on the USB device by inserting data into it. If you choose to do this, it is ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK, as you are responsible for any action that happens while logged in to your Gamertag.

Obviously this process is not how microsoft or redlynx intended people to share tracks, so this is off topic. My rule of thumb is if its not in the manual you buy your product with then its highly likely 'if' caught you may infringe your user agreement.

Please bare in mind while clearly helpful in offering a different solution, while writing in red and in capitals >< about complaining about mods, people are just showing concern that is all.

This wont of course be for everyone, my friends list is always full but I don't mind taking the time to remove others and accept new friend requests. Takes two ticks =)

My point was that this (modifying the contents of a container) is completely against the Terms of Use that everyone has agreed to.

Your failure to put any kind of warning/disclaimer is something that I do have a problem with.

    From the Xbox Live Terns of Use;

"obtain (or try to obtain) any data from the Service or related hardware, except data that we intend to provide or make available to you;"

"Any data from... related hardware" means your HDD/USB. Transferring files in a way other than explicitly allowed by Microsoft is against the ToU.

By using the means you described, you are encouraging people who may not know better to break a contract they (or their guardians) have electronically agreed to possibly resulting in the loss of use of a $199 system and/or the loss of Accounts.

The fact that you have to use programs that are made by reverse engineering Microsoft Code (that one is illegal) is enough so that most people should NOT do it.

I am an Xbox Live Ambassador (note that being an Ambassador does not mean I work for Microsoft) and I am pretty well versed in most things Xbox. Every day people frequent the "Account Suspensions and Console Bans" forum on XBOX.com complaining that they did nothing wrong because OTHER people have told them that something isn't ban-worthy.

Doing what you outlined above (Modifying and resigning items for use on an Xbox 360) is MOST DEFINITELY a ban-worthy offense. This procedure has been talked about before, and tossed out by most of the people involved specifically for the reasons I have mentioned.

How about instead of complaining about ME, you do the smart thing and put a disclaimer of some sort up.
