Hey all,
I've been trying to up my Global Score, so I've been playing the Ring of Fire gamesAfter some runs, I have some questions -
1. Do you prefer to use a certain bike? I notice that the top replay on the DLC RoF game uses the Scorpion.
2. Why do some people hold the gas in while they are in the air? I've done this, but I don't seem to notice any difference.
3. On the original RoF, there are some fire rings beneath a metal plate. I've gone through a bunch of replays, and haven't seen anyone go down there. Do we know if it's even possible? Have the devs said anything about it?
Thanks!
I always get knocked off my bike in the second ring of fire. Cant stand it!
i prefer to use the scorpion simply because it turns more slowly. however, on the original level, where you have to turn sharply for those twin rings, i use the phoenix
also, holding the gas does nothing, but i sometimes do that simply because thats how my fingers rest.
i've seen the rings down below on the original too, but i've never bothered to go down there because i assumed you couldnt get back up again very easily
I've wanted to know about these rings since last yr. If we could get the official story from the devs, who've been pretty quiet lately, well that would be excellent.Originally Posted by lespritdelescalier
I don't hold the gas i think, it's been awhile, i got the 101 and haven't touched it since. Whatever your more comfortable at is what you should do.
Aim a little higher than the center when you're flying backwards. Once i started doing that i got knocked off less. You're still going to get knocked off sometimes, but points wise it's worth it. It's a fun challenge once you start making it thru to the 90's consistently.Originally Posted by jook13
Okay, the Ring of Fire skill games are my favourite, I am currently 4th in both the DLC and non-DLC RoF's. On the first one I prefer to use the pheonix, and on the second I use the scorpion simply because that's what the top guy used![]()
About those rings on the first ring of fire, I tried for two darn hours trying that route out, it's impossible to do! Well, actually I think it is possible to not hit the silver plate as it falls and still manage to pick up the ring (The metal plate will destroy the ring on contact), it's down to miliseconds though. You'll notice that their is another metal plate alittle further on through the track so I presume this would open up if you actually somehow managed to make it down there!
These two skill games are all about practice (and a little luck in the second).
Come to think of it....I'm going to try and improve my times tomorrow because I got knocked down from 3rd on the first RoF![]()

Good luck!
so about those rings on the bottom?
any info developers
using the gas through the rings IS FASTER and makes you go farther without boost, Go on Epic jumps and compare the times on the ring of fires with gas and without.
also if you dont gas on ring of fire #1 theres a spot in the middle, where if you don't gas you will not make it to the next boost without running out for a split second.![]()
still struggling with these skill gamesjust got 43 rings on the first one, needed 2 more for plat. im gutted
also a few of the 'skill game people' on my friends list said that RoF is WAY easier with the d-pad. i cant say its helped![]()
Ring of Fire has to be my least favourite skill game, but knowing that holding the accelerator makes you go quicker kinda makes me want to haev another go.
Thanks for the help and responses everyone. Ring of Fire was one of my least favourite skill games, but after some practice over the past few days, I've been enjoying it more and more. Now, if I could only enjoy flip hunter...![]()
