Converting my mountain bike to electric power (done!)

    I just bought this:

It's a 1200W brushless engine that can supposedly go to 70km/h! If I knew this existed I would have bought it sooner... Screw those 32km/h legal bikes that look ugly as a baboon's butt, and those brushless hub motors that are a pain to install... This is the way to go

I will be fitting this on my Specialized FSR XC:

YEAH!!! The engine and battery in bag weigh less than 10 Kilos and since it's under the bike it doesn't move the center of gravity upwards on my bike which is another great advantage. There are even dual 1500W engines that you can get from the same company (sold out for now) that can go up to 120Km/h!!! (the video says it's a dual 1000W at 120km/h while the website says dual 1500W go 120 km/h so IDK...)

I have to remove my crank to install the special crank. The crank arms make the crank turn but the crank doesn't make the arms turn, like a ratchet, it only goes on one way so that your pedal don't turn when giving throttle. The crank only has two gears, only one for from the chain to the back wheel and one from the engine to the crank so my 27 speed bike will become a 9.

ahh i see, so the whole thing is just mounted next to the crank and the cassette is untouched. the crank replacement works kind of like a freecoaster. once again, looks fun.

Done! There are still some slight things to do like arrange all the wires better, I have to put some more air in the shocks because the bike is heavier (went from around 30 pounds to 60) but it's a lot of fun! It was kind of a big hassle to install too but the speed is very nice, the autonomy is ok for what I do but could be better.

I definitely got to 60 Km/h (checked while next to my bro's truck)with it and wasn't toally at full speed, I race cars and mopeds on the street, when I first sped by these kids on a gas moped (without even pedaling) and looked back at them with a huge grin, it was priceless! They catched on to me but still, I was very happy at the time and I am generally happy with my purchase as of now.

    Video coming soon.

that looks sweet. you just missed one trick - when you pass someone, pedal like crazy, and they'll think its you, and not the motor

Nah, I fly by cars and mopeds all the time without an engine, mainly because they have to stop for stops and red lights and I usually just zip through, the point was seeing the raw power of the engine
