Ive rented Alan Wake today and completed it. Took me about 9 and a half hours. Ive played the hole game while people could see it over the livestream.
This is how I would rate the game.
Story: 10 : The story is absolutely great. Its definatly a bit different to "normal" story lines but it's awesome!
Gameplay: 8.5 : The gameplay is fun but after about 6h everything has been used already. It seems like the devs didnt have any more ideas.
Sound: 8.5 : The soundtrack fits into the game perfectly. I played with an headset but I wasnt really hearing if enemies came from behind or elsewhere.
Graphics: 9.5 : The game has one of the best graphics Ive ever seen on xbox apart from Trials HD. It has awesome lighting effects and a truely wonderfull vegetation.
Controlls: 9.0 : The controlls are easy to learn but very advanced aswell. It seems to be difficult at the beginning but you'll soon notice how awesome they are.
Overall ranking: 9.5 : Alan Wake is an must play. The story is awesome and the campagin is very long for an game like this.
I can only say this for the german version of the game but the synchronisation is great and the conversations sound lovely.
The leveldesign was one of the best Ive ever seen in a game but it doesnt change anything on the gameplay ranking because it doesnt change anything if you allways do the same just in different areas!
Now seeing you rented it, thats not too bad. lol crazy kid playing one day and beating it.
Im not crazy! The game was just a hell lot of fun to play.
Sound 9,5. The game has very good sound, you can tell where the enemy is at all time. And the soundtrack is one of the best i have ever encounter.
And for the game it self, is a 9,5.
That's cool, there's something to be said for saving some for later rather than blowing the whole wad in one day.Originally Posted by JJtheGerman
The story was always interessting at any time. So I always wanted to know "How is it going on" and thats why I couldnt stop playing. Anyway it was expensive to rent the game so I tried to complet it as fast as possible.
ah, renting does make a difference. How expensive is it to rent? Here's it's like 5 dollars for 4 or 5 nights depending where you get it from. I usually get a game for 2 cycles if it's a long game, like Fable or something.Originally Posted by JJtheGerman
I've wondered why games are so expensive overseas, my aussie friends get raped in regards to pricing.
I'm in Third episode myself. Story seems really good. (And bought the new one... 65 euros)
Btw.. How common is the renting games in different countries? In Finland its nonexistent but used games are sold by Gamestop a lot.
We also have a Gamestop in germany but those ones are just in big cities. I have an Gameland in my town. The guy who owns that store is one of the guys which have games 10 days for the release. He's (actually) really cheap. So games which normally cost 70€ cost 50€ in his store. Still expensive. He's also selling used games.
We have alot of renting stores in germany. I think the biggest one is "empire". You can rent everything. You can also rent a deer puppet. No joke.
is it worth paying full price ?? whats the replay value ?? and ANBA renting is huge in england.. we pay £ 4.50 for 6 days at my local shop. although i havent rented myself for a while![]()
that sounds so wrong,
