    Constant Updates.

Hi all, I just registered here to ask a question.

I only recently bought Trials HD, and I'm having a great time with it, but every time I open it, it pops up the "Update found" type notification for Live, so I sign out, allow it to update, which only takes a few seconds, then automatically get signed back in again.

The thing I'm wondering about...is it supposed to do this *every* time I start Trials HD? Like I said, it isn't a long update process by any means, and the game seems to work fine (leaderboards being updated, etc), but I just thought I should ask.

I already asked on the official XBox forums, and someone over there suggested I post it here as well, in case it was something that you were not already aware of.

    Thanks

    Re: Constant Updates.

Is the game installed to your hard drive or to a memory unit?

Xbox 360 storage devices can only store limited amount of game updates. If you have installed more patched games to a single device, the system deletes an old update every time it downloads a new one. This is the reason sometimes you need to download an update to a game more than once. The whole update system is controlled completely by Microsoft. Trials HD should function exactly the same way as any other XBLA games that have updates.

    Re: Constant Updates.

It is currently installed to the 360 HDD.

It could very well be that it is getting replaced by another patch, then re-downloading itself every time I start up, as there is only around 4 GB of space left out of a possible 60. It just hasn't happened with any other game so far, but it could be due to the fact that there is less space than usual. I wasn't aware of how the patches work on the 360.

    Thanks very much sebbbi.

i cant remember where i heard this, but your xbox only stores 5 updates, so if you play 5 different games before you start up trials again then it's certain to update.

About the 5 updates... that must be a myth.
Theres no limit as far as I know.
    Think about it..

You can install 10-20 games and 50 DLC rockband packs, trailers, demos, 1000+gamesaves and more BUT....

I havent seen a single source stating this, and I know almost 100% that I have installed far more than 10 updates and never experienced this-

Also he had bought the game recently.
It must have been 3-5 patches for this game already so maybe its just the regular patches (or his harddrive is ****-d)

    Re: Constant Updates.

It could indeed have just been all of the various patches, I suppose. It was only bought this month, so that could have had something to do with it.

Hopefully the harddrive doesn't have anything wrong with it.

I'm not incredibly worried about it, though. As I said in the OP, it was someone on the XBF that said to post it on here just in case, so I thought it might be for the best. I'll keep an eye on it, as I wasn't playing it long tonight before someone invited me for a game of something else, so I can try it again later/tomorrow and see if it still wants to update again.

If it hasn't been said already, clear your HDD cache, then play games that you play regularly and once they update you shouldn't have to do it again.
