this is just a start to a compitition i plan to hold for you map makers.
ive brieflly spoken to akasukiUK about it to try and get things in place.
the compition is far from finalised but im sure it will go ahead, the prize will be 2100mp. which is not to be sniffed at.
i have my own reasons for doing this. and i hope it will take off.
i am currentley trying to arrange 3 independent judges from 3 different countries to give an honest opinion for the winner. i will not be judgeing, maybe give my opinion.

the challenge is to make a map in a 3x3 block, ( no more no less ) with the start and finish to be allowed outside the said area. i have made one ( although i am not a good map maker ) to show the rules clearly.... unfortunatly i have no means to video it, so if someone can... ( no pressure friend list ) then please do..so it can be posted on here to show the rules clearly, as not to waste your time.

i hope you will all get involved and begin making your 3x3 maps in ready for when i can offically start the competition, and let u know the final details...
after sorting the details out with the moderators and arranging 3 TRUE independent judges ( from 3 different countries ) i will start a new thread and make it happen
the tracs will of course have to be played by myself and 3 ( not yet arranged judges) so u will need 4 spaces on your friend list... no easy task.. im fully aware.. if anybody knows a way round this please let me know

i do belive this is the biggest prize offered by a player and hope the response is equal

i have just found out that mp codes are region locked and as im from europe this could be a problem.. if anyone knows off a way round this please let me know

Other than having 2 prizes (one for europe and one for usa) or just running the comp for Europeans I can't see a way around it mate.

i believe amazon will send the right kind of code to a huge amount of countries, but that would mean you buying another one if the winner wasnt from europe, and may mean different values of prizes, and shipping costs.

also, am i right in thinking that it will be a level of 9 rooms in a noughts and crosses kind of layout?

There is not a way around it unfortunately, at least not a way i would recommend. If you are from UK then others that have a european live account can enter competition but outside of the EU these points wont be valid

Just to summarise this competition:

-Make a map limited only to 3 X 3 building block size.
-Can be a race track or a mini skill game (obviously a race track will end up being super short but this doesnt matter!)

So you can get some really high detail by pouring every kb into that one space. Lag = bad though so i dont recommend making some house that explodes and destroys the framerate.

Ideas to get you started:
Due to the size limitations of the map this competition will likely be marked on your decorative skills to a large degree, or you could make some crazy physics device. As for race track ideas, you could do something like a micro donkey 3 X 3, like micro machine trials or something.

Remember its a 3 X 3 cube (27 empty rooms if you count them all in a cube 3 X 3). So custom cameras ahoy if your idea needs it.


This topic by the way is just to get peoples feedback on raistlins competition idea and if theres interest the topic will be made in user tracks and will start asap. Obviously there is the monster competition currently underway but if you dont have the time or the technical skills yet in the editor to make something like that then this competition will suit you perfectly=).

- just an extra thing about the region lock microsoft points, if the majority of the interest for submissions come from our american friends on this forum then i suggest you buy the points for the US, and vice versa if its europe (europe is a safe bet as more countries can get involved), but i leave that to you.

-So members if you are interested please say so and say where your live account is locked to, i.e US, Europe, or Asia. There are obviously other countries that are not under a region so for raistlin this will be a bit of a stretch lol

thanks AK.... to be fair i was only thinking of a pheonix race trac... as complicated as you could fit into a 3x3 space ( start and finish outside the square bloc allowed) but its opened up a whole can of knew ideas.. why not a skill game... why not a micro donkey... its much smaller after all...
great ideas... and thats why this start thread is here...

also to fix the region locked mp problem.. im lead to belive that a gold membership is not region locked... although im fully aware a 3 month gold is not a good a prize as 2100mp i could do the only thing that seems best at this point and offer europeans 2100mp rest of world 3 month gold... i know its not fair but any ideas on how it can be, will be greatly appreciated

well, so far i'm a little pressed for depth, but my level is coming along swimmingly so far. i just hope no-one takes my idea..... because they're bound to do it better than me.

when's the deadline for submissions?

ps. if anyone gets a good ski jump or high jump in a 3x3x3 then they are made of win and greatness
