    Trials crashes way too much

As good a game as this is, I feel it crashes on me far too often for it to be acceptable. Now I'm only a computer expert in opposite-world, but my computer never crashes unless I have Trials open. If I leave Trials on and go do something else for a while, say 10 minutes, chances are 60-70% that by the time I get back not only has Trials crashed but my computer has rebooted itself. Unacceptable!

It also causes 1-2 second freezes in gameplay. These happen at complete random moments and in some Trials sessions far too frequently. Other times they don't happen at all. What gives?

I dont know if it's my graphics card and I dont even know what graphics card I have, but no other game or application does this to me. I also play on very low graphics mode so this **** should not be an issue at all. I know Trials is a buggy game sometimes and I can live with minor glitches for the measly $10 invested, but this is getting far too annoying for me

    Help me.

damnn it makes your PC crash?

Yep, the whole PC crashes and either reboots or the screen goes black and I have to manually reboot. Sucks.

Probably your cpu overheating, mine used to do it all the time but only with Trials running. I have to keep cleaning the dust from my cpu cooler.

I'm not certain, but I don't think it's your CPU being directly pushed to over heat... though that still could be the problem. There is a thread somewhere that someone complains that Trials uses very little of the CPU, which he argued is inefficient. On the other hand it apprently will cause your graphics card to run at full speed... which on my laptop means the whole system will overheat and start chugging (as well as draining the battery in a matter of minutes).

Someone on the Steam forums (DarkNight I think) suggested going into your graphics card control panel and forcing on V-Sync, which should prevent Trials from trying to render as many frames as possible. However I'm not sure that worked for me, but it could be worth a shot.

But yeah, that would be my suggestion for the cause of the problem... pc overheating cause of full GPU use.

    Most likely GPU overheating.

Re: Trials crashes way too much

As far as I know, frequent (or even occasional) crashes are not a "known" or common issue in Trials 2. I run Trials 2 SE a lot on a variety of different hardware (4 completely different computers that I can think of), and I don't think I've ever crashed. What you described definitely sounds like GPU-related crashing to me. In particular, Trials 2 SE seems to stress GPU shaders more than most games. Someone else might know more than I do about that, but to my understanding that is part of what gives the game it's distinctive visual style. Usually we think of games with extremely high polygon counts or lots of high-resolution textures as stressing out a video card (something like Half-Life 2), but shading can stress a different part of your video card, so it's totally plausible that Trials 2 might be causing trouble while most other games might not be. This part of the Troubleshooting and performance improvement FAQ might be relevant:

Trials 2 utilizes your graphics card pixel shaders much more intensively than most other games. Problems like computer case cooling fan misfunctions, underpowered PSU (power supply unit) or too high graphics card overclocking are much more visible on Trials 2. Most graphics cards have termal sensors and the card automatically downclocks itself if problems like this occur. The visible symptom of this is poor fluctuating framerate in longer play sessions, and occasional hangs and blue screens if the problem is serious enough.

If Trials 2 runs smoothly for couple of minutes and then starts to lag heavily, it's likely that you are having a hardware problem like this. First thing to check is that all your case fans, PSU fans and graphics chip fans are spinning properly. If you have overclocked parts of your system, return the default clocks and see if this fixes the problem. If you are suspecting that your PSU doesn't have enough power to run your system, the best way to test is to remove all unnecessary add on cards and USB devices.
Another thing you might consider doing is underclocking your hardware. I used to have a laptop with a P4 2.8 GHz processor which had constant heat issues (it was a Prescott-series processor, which were notorious for that). I managed to get the system working correctly simply by setting the processor to run at 1.8 GHz instead of 2.8 GHz. Obviously you don't want to do something like that if you don't have to, but for the sake of getting the system stable I did it. Again, your case sounds more like the video card than the CPU, but as a matter of fact that makes it easier. It is possible to adjust the clock speed of almost all modern GPUs on the fly with the right software. Usually you overclock with such software, but underclocking should be possible too. Again, if you can post your hardware specs I could probably tell you more.

    Hope that helps!

Re: Trials crashes way too much

Wow, I'm so noob when it comes to this. It's all hebrew to me. Thanks though ZeroG, really appreciate the help.

What kind of specs do you want me to write down? And LOL, how do I find them myself?

Let's see (this is all from System in the Control panel, straight up pasted from there)
I have an Intel Core 2 quad CPU, Q6600 @ 2.40 ghz, 2.00 mb RAM on a 32-bit Operating system. That's all the info I can gather I dunno, can't find any info on my graphics card or GPU or whatever. sucks to be me.

1... get your pc and drop kick out the highest window you can find
2... go to nearest stockist and grab a 360
    3... get some mp.. 17.49 = 2100 mp ( in english )
    4... sign up ( 39.99 ) in shops...
