    Question for the curious

OK, so this week and last I have been working on the hard levels just finished Steel and Concrete tonight - I only have Inferno to go). I went back through Full Speed Ahead and realized that I did it with like 2 or 3 faults. I started to think that maybe I could no-fault it. So I stayed with it for an hour or two and got to the last checkpoint with no faults, and suddenly I was faced with a choice - do I finish it and claim my first no-fault hard level ever, or do I intentionally crash to get the "Bad Vibes" achievement? Well, I'm a sucker for the achievements, so I faceplanted, finished the level, and got the achievement. Then I spent the next several hours obsessively playing the level again, knowing I could do a repeat. Finally, I did manage it, but it made me wonder...

When most people face their first possibility of a no-fault hard level in Trials 2 SE, do they grab the no-fault or the achievement?

    Just curious.

I was in the same boat. I was playing Full Speed Ahead and crossed the last checkpoint with no faults and then had to think what to do. I decided to nofault it first, then I went back in and thankfully on my very next turn I got back to that place for the achievement. Good luck with Inferno

    Lol, also the same boat

I finished a few hard tracks, some with faults, and I decided to try to get the achievement on the most easy hard track, Full Speed Ahead.

I got the achievement on that track but now it turns out h1 is the hardest hard track....its my worst hard record...*sigh*

My team mate, evilsean42, insisted to me that I should get it on Jumpy Ride as that was the easiest hard track... but even now I still find that one quite tricky.

You get bad vibes without trying at some point. No point ruining a proper run just to get the achievement. I got mine the proper way, just before the end flag when trying to zero fault king of the beer for the first time.

What Jorma said: Ranks first, achievements second.

Iirc I got mine on H1 also, naturally not long after the first faultless run. That lovely last jump over the wall obstacle...

Yeah, I think that's one of the brilliant things about T2SE - it requires a variety of styles. Just for giggles, I tried Full Speed Ahead and Jumpy Ride one after the other, and got 4 faults on Full Speed Ahead and 6 on Jumpy Ride... and I definitely find Jumpy Ride harder. But I can easily see where someone else's strengths might be better suited for Jumpy Ride (next time I can block a few hours to play, it'll either be trying to beat Inferno or trying to no-fault Jumpy Ride).

That has to be the most hardcore thing I've heard in a long time... you got "Bad Vibes" on King of the Beer? Dude! I guess the physical pain you'd have to feel for doing King of the Beer with 1 fault at the end would be offset by the achievement at least. I think I did an Ace Ventura-style pelvic thrust celebration the (singular) time I managed to finish King of the Beer. Then I realized that Steel and Concrete was harder for me.

Ah, but the kicker is that the last wall obstacle jump isn't the last checkpoint.

EDIT: And with that, I think I finally know what I want my avatar to be

    Re: Question for the curious

I didn't realise it was an achievement, until I was trying to set a new PB for most of the tracks. So by then, I could get through this track 0 faults 8/10 times at speed and when I noticed it, I just went in and done it.
Only 1 track left for my complete all tracks achievement, YSNP. sigh......
I wish I didn't ahve to do this one. Its too hard!

Oh, crap! You have to do the downloadables for that achievement too? Wow... ouch. I guess it'll be a while before I've got that one. On the other hand, at least it gets me motivated to try out the super-evil levels. Do downloadables count towards your ranking?

Incidentally, sometimes I just watch the zero-fault YSNP replays for the awesome factor. That is some wicked-sick playing.

You know what: You're absolutely right!
See kids, that's what you got for not playing the thing for over two months now...

Well chosen avatar by the way.
