I am a decent track maker (mixxed reviews of my tracks from some on this forum) and lately I am on a horrible creator's block, any decently sane ideas may help me get back on the bike again....oh yeah and my GT is b0b boberson.....0 is a zero

Most of my tracks start out with me picking 2 or 3 objects. For example wood beam and wood plank. I then start making a path, just the ride line out of nothing but these objects. I then start trying to create an environment around the ride line. I rarely have a general look or theme planned out from the beginning, the ideas just come as I create. I am sure most are more methodical and structured, but it works ok for me.

hmm, I generally don't waste time on artsy stuff like background and such, focus on difficulty and decent length....hard enough to do without extra things in the background haha...

So if you dont do any form of theme or go for any type of general look, what kind of suggestions are you looking for?

My first suggestion is try working a cool look into a track, that is where I have the most fun when making a map. Otherwise you could just place random objects and make sure the bike can ride across them, tweaking till you get the difficulty and length you desire.

Well, I tend to focus on physics and such....I might ask a friend if he can video a few of my tracks to show them easier.

im all about theme myself... i mean i think up something, do a sketch build and see where it goes. i mentally know when my objects are runnin out but skumbag taught a neat trick for that too... lol

Meh, themes are just to much extra work for me. I personally can't make myself make things just so the level looks pretty....

if you dont have a theme just put objects everywhere and place them proper. check out boris' happy camper track

hey, you can take some of my ideas if ya want. im not saying there amazing but they fills the gaps for where your stuck.

yeah i know what u mean about a theme and background visuals etc. can be a bit of a chore for some people. if your not much for decorating your tracks, just delete lots of wall blocks, crank the fog right up and give it a decent colour and then at least your track will look like you've done something to it, that what i used to do
