Well I am giving this award to King of the Hill. That last uphill beam at the last checkpoint has ruined at least 10 runs for me today, when on all those runs I was +2secs on my personal best which would put me in the Top 10. I have the rest of the track pretty much down and can do it reasonably consistently but this last part has given me more grief than any other 'last obstacle' of a track. Its obviously not the hardest of obstacles but very hard to do fast because of how awkward the angle is.
I am at the point now with my runs that I just can't stand to stop at all (unless absolutely necessary like a part in Diabolic). I like to try and link all the obstacles together and having a bad or slow last obstacle really hurts when you are watching your replay. That extra second that hesitation cost you at the end stares right back at you until you can beat it again. I have tryed all methods with the last obstacle in KotH. I try to come to a stop and I go forward, lifting my back wheel costing me time. I try to just run into it as hard as I can and I normally just flip backwards. I have seen the top replays and they come to a tiny stop but its just so hard to do when you are in rush. I mean I can do it sometimes, of course but as far as stuffing up good runs for me this one has gotta take the cake.
So what are your WORST last obstacles?? You know the ones that actually make you dread playing the whole track over and over because you know your always going to mess up at the end.
i actually find the first obsticles on most tracs more annoying
Easily 'Going up' for me!
That last obstacle on this one catches me out about 7/10 times!
I was 12 sec ahead of my prev best the other day, when this one messed it up for me. I settled for about 6 sec off in the end as I'd had enough!
(When I'm 30 sec behind my PB, I'll get it right 7/10 times!!!)
The first obstacles don't bother me too much, except in tourneys, cos you can just restart the track.
Yeah I hear ya on Goin Up too, that is a ***** of a last obstacle. If you don't land it just right you either get stuck where you can't go up without having to re-adjust or you hit with too much angle past the vertical and fall back or down onto the bomb. There is alot to get right in that track so that makes the pressure of that last part get to you even more.Originally Posted by Jonofthejungle
This happened to me too yesterday on koth. 60th at the moment and was over 2 seconds up when i hit the last checkpoint. was going too fast into it and pushed forward a little too early and so flipped backwards and bailed it![]()
Anyway, the prison break obstacle is pretty annoying. Not the very last one, 1 back from the high vertical ramp. It's not easy to consistently get the speed right to fall in and jump over the box.
Lol, yer, I got my method for that, but it's slow. I drop to the floor, just before it, then get onto the seating bit and gun it, leaning back and hit fwd as I get to the top. I haven't missed this one since I got Plat, but get what you mean.Originally Posted by picklezz08
In tournaments this helps but i'd never try and use this technique for a best time run.

The sad thing, it was a run where I faulted near the middle not the end! I blaze thru the 1st half and then I get anxious and unravel at the end. Goin up is my favorite extreme track otherwise.
The first time I finished it faultless, I got Platinum. Was really lucky on the drop down section....

Skip to 1 min in to see what I mean.
I think I've improved my score since. This run looks amaturish!
Funny... I thought we'd be hearing about Fantastic.
I don't know if I can pick one. I guess I'd have to go with the hammers at the end of Inferno II. It's tough to time them properly when you're going for a speed run. Most of the other last obstacles are static obstacles, so you can sit at the last checkpoint and practice them over and over again.
