Hey, everybody! At long last, I've completed and tested my Global Score + DLC calculation spreadsheet! Huge thanks to Jarr3tt88 for the original version of the spreadsheet, upon which mine is based. Thanks also to those who tested the spreadsheet and helped correct some errors.
To understand the purpose, this spreadsheet allows you to enter and track all your times and scores, and will help you determine what tracks, tournaments, or skill games represent the best chance for you to improve your global score, and therefore your leaderboard rankings.
In addition to adding all the DLC content, I also organized it in list views, and included calculated columns for common "what if" scenarios (0-faults, Platinum, Track Record). Also columns for tracking personally relevant info like your rank on each track.
The file is available at the download page at http://www.trialshd.net/GlobalScore.aspx Thanks for hosting, GameScrub!
With this spreadsheet, my score is within +/- 20 points of actual leaderboard score, for both Global Score and Global + DLC. Your mileage may vary.
Post all questions or issues in this thread!
File was created in Excel 2007, but should be usable in all versions (97-2007)
Further details, which are also included on the "Notes" page in the spreadsheet:
All cells in GREEN are for data entry
All cells in YELLOW are calculated
Other cells are not locked, but probably shouldn't be modified directly.
You can sort the lists any way you want, and it shouldn't break the calculations.
Currently, the lists are sorted the same as the leaderboard listings in Trials HD, for ease of data entry.
Values you will need to enter:
Faults - Your number of faults on each track
Time - Your time from each track. Make sure to enter the leading zero like "0:45.123"
Rank - Your leaderboard rank on each track. Not used in calculations, but useful to see if your run can be replayed, or for other personal improvement goals
Track Record - Best leaderboard time on each track. Used to calculate your "best-case" improvement
Values that are calculated:
Medal - Calculated based on your time only, so may not match your actual Medal in the game.
My Score - Calculated from your time and faults.
Also automatically calculates the following "What If" values:
0 Faults - How much would my score improve if I got a 0-fault run? (Assumes the same time)
Platinum - How much more would my score improve if I got a Platinum time?
Record - How much more would my score improve if I tied the track record?
Note that you would need to add these columns together to see the highest possible improvement on a single track
Additional "What If?" columns
If you want to manually test other "what if" combinations, enter a time and fault count into these final columns.
Use the Summary sheet to see your calculated Global score, and to see what areas need the most improvement
The "Max Possible" is the score you could achieve by tying all track records
I originally had some issues with the DLC score calculation, but after some painstaking research, I found that the DLC race tracks use a varied FaultFactor, unlike the original tracks:
All original tracks: FF = 0.10
DLC Medium Tracks: FF = 0.10
DLC Hard Tracks: FF = 0.50
DLC Extreme Track "Greatest Hits": FF = 0.75
DLC Extreme Track "Diabolic": FF = 0.80
All Tournaments, Original and DLC: FF = 0.75
FaultFactor is a constant that is used (more or less) as the "penalty" factor for your fault count on a track. (For example, 0.10 FF means that a single fault lowers your max possible score to only 10% of the max otherwise.)
The FF also impacts the scores for a Silver/Gold/Platinum run:
FF Silver Gold Platinum
0.10: 65,000 110,000 164,000
0.50: 125,000 150,000 180,000
0.75: 162,500 175,000 190,000
0.80: 170,000 180,000 192,000
So DLC Hard and Extreme tracks have a higher Platinum score. For comparison, here are the Skill Game scores:
Silver Gold Platinum
50,000 100,000 160,000
The only FaultFactor I'm not sure about (because my faults are still too high) is for The Midnight Club. I believe that it is 0.75 like the other Tournaments, but if you have a very low fault count, and notice your Global+DLC is off by thousands, let me know. (Or if you have some inside info on the FF used on each track!)
great spredsheet. it'll certainly help motivate me to do some of the skill games (because it will inevitably say thats where i can improve the most)
the stuff you've said about the fault factors, do i have to put that in myself, or has it been updated already (i downloaded it about 5 mins before i posted this)
No, all the FaultFactor values are in there. I mentioned it only because it was the final issue I had to resolve before the calculations were correct, and because it has some interesting implications: doing Diabolic in silver-medal time with 10 faults will still give you more points than a platinum-medal time of Inferno II with only 1 fault!!Originally Posted by Reaper392
The 0.1 FF on the original tracks was just a killer for any run that wasn't a 0-fault. I like the change for the DLC tracks, too bad they couldn't have gone back and modified the original FFs. Would probably have messed up the leaderboards too much.
One more feature worth mentioning:
The summary sheet will calculate a summary chart like in my signature (not graphical, just text).
Gives you a nice at-a-glance view of your records and progress on each track type.
i've filled it all in, but there must be something seriously wrong with the calculations - its 1 point out, lol. (on the +DLC its 9 points out).
i have a feeling that the game records to many more decimal places that we just dont have access to, that affect the results slightly
as for the midnight club tourney, i have 16 faults, and a time of 12:33.270, and my global +DLC is only out by 8 points more than the global -DLC, so its either right, or damn close. hopefully someone who's platinumed it will be able to confirm if the FF is right or not for that.
I uploaded the file on the site now.
Thank you
Thanks for hosting, GameScrub. I've removed the link to the temporary host from the original post.
Reaper--with only 16 faults on Midnight Club, if the faultfactor wasn't right, the score would be off by thousands. So that's confirmation that the FF for that track is correct.
When I was testing the spreadsheet on a new profile, doing one race at a time, then recording the score, I would see the occasional track that was 1 point off, and the occasional skill game that was 2-3 points off. So any error in your final score is really an accumulation of tiny inaccuracies. You might be right about the leaderboard recording with slightly higher accuracy than is shown, or it could just be a subtle rounding error ( I round up to the next highest point).
But with a current accuracy of +/- 20 out of several milliion points, I'm not that worried![]()
woah dude. I took a look at your excel sheet, that thing looks confusing as hell xD Great job though!
I gotta update mine with the DLC, you wouldn't mind if I used your fault factors you took the time to figure out?
