One thing for anyone wanting to make a map in space or something you can make asteroids by using the dummy tool as a base and using a force rotation hinge slow, just a random mini guide
@Willyum, the dampers can be glued to the corners of an object such as a car or falling platform to slow it down, and the sliders can be used in between a stationary object and an object that falls on top of it, like boxes falling onto boxes or something along those lines, except with the sliders you can make one object fall slow and one object fall fast. to do this just put the slider in between the two objects and glue each to a different side. I'm not positive which way you have to glue to make it go fast or slow, but you just have to try it to figure it out. These things have numerous uses these are just the basics. Hope this helped![]()
yeah thanks for the info zoidbergdampers actually came up in the last RedLynx TV episode which was helpful but to be honest i doubt ill use them or the sliders as i dont really enjoy physics-heavy tracks. that being said its always good to learn more about the editor. which reminds me i need to finish my dlc track, failed to enter crows 30L comp because i didnt finish in time

Nice tutorial, dummy. er. I mean dummy tutorial.
I never thought of using it to activiate triggers.
Hey, sorry I'm a little late to the tutorial thread party but I was wondering if you made a tutorial on the light/trigger capabilities. I had some trouble on my track Atomica. I have a red light on and a bridge drops, the green light under it is triggered on but no matter what I tried, same trigger, independent triggers, moving the lights farther apart, it would not turn the red light off, only the green light on. I was wondering if there is just too much going on in that area for it to work or was I making a fundamental error. I built the track months ago, but it has always bothered me. I can't tell you how many things I have learned in the editor by doing it all the wrong ways first. Also, thanks for all the tutorial vids euphoric, hard to make sense of a lot of this stuff in writing, but it makes perfect sense in the videos.
To turn lights off you have to have the "Light" box deselected in the trigger options menu. One trigger won't turn 1 light on, and 1 light off.

If what you are saying is the case, it will be one more "duh" moment for me. It would also hopefully solve my piston problem I've been having on a new track I'm building. Can't seem to keep a piston glued to an object once its turned on. I have 2 stacked on top of each other for an extra pop and they go flying , glued or not, lol.
Thanks Shifty, that worked. I've gone back and fixed Atomica and was able to keep my pistons glued properly in my new track Spherica. When you open up the trigger menu the dialogue is misleading. It says "select the properties you want to change" (or to that effect) which implies to me no highlight ( ) leaves it alone and highlighting (X) changes it to the opposite of what state you have the object(s) you're triggering set to. It would make more sense if the boxes said ( ) = OFF and (X) = ON. Damn, I feel stupid.Originally Posted by Ajuvix
I think it was actually Dosto who gave me that little bit of information. I was doing the same thing as you and banging my head against the wall cause the light wasn't going off. I agree that the labeling is a bit counter intuitive.Originally Posted by Ajuvix
Okay, this may be a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway..
If I'm building something, say a large horisontal plate with a vertical beam glued to the center, and I add some crazy physics, then the two won't be glued firmly to each other and moves around. Therefore I add a dummy to keep it together..
Here is the allerged stupid question: Does dummys take more space in the objects- counter than any other objects with physics on? And if I for some reason want to use a dummy without physics on, does that count for the same as a ring or short plank or so on?
Cheers all!
