    Harddrive failed.

Yea, I got the red ring went to the support page and after much configuring it seems like I got HD failure.

I presume if I get a new HD i'll have to buy trials again? I expect my scores won't be lost though will they?

    Re: Harddrive failed.

you wont have to buy trials again, its recorded as history on your xbox live profile, so you can just re-download. Scores are also remembered as long as you were online at the time it saved the time i believe.. fingers crossed eh? =D

    Re: Harddrive failed.

you may not have to ditch the hard drive - a friend of mine had the hard drive red ring (god knows what the code was) and it was the xbox that was the problem, not the HDD.

it may be as simple as the connection between HDD and xbox

Great that I wont need to buy the game again.

With the HD disconnected it works fine. Tried re-attaching it as well as all the connections, no joy.

    Re: Harddrive failed.

have you tried finding out what error code the xbox has.

heres what you have to do
    1. boot up the xbox with no disk in it, and let it red ring.
    2. hold down the syncronise button on the xbox (the one you use to connect new controllers with)
    3. while holding the sync button, press + release the disk tray open button.

the ring will be flashing much faster now. note down the number of lights flashing fast, then press the disk button again + note down again. repeat untill you have four numbers. (repeating again takes you back to the standard red ring)

    1 light = 1
    2 lights = 2
    3 lights = 3
    4 lights = 0

then do a google search to see what the problem is exactly.

i had a similar problem to you (xbox wouldnt work with the HDD in), but this was caused by error code 0020, which didnt specify was a HDD problem, so i sent my box in, and got a working one back within 3 weeks

    Re: Harddrive failed.

Microsoft extended the warranty to 3 yrs for the 3 red ring error, but most others are only 2 yrs.
Most problems have fairly simple fix solutions, but I would recommend taking advantage of warranty if you have it.
If you are not covered by warranty, just google or youtube all you need to fix it. (You may need a particular screwdriver which cana be hard to find).
I've fixed 3 now, but 2 have since broken again and the other one freezes every now and then.
    Hope this helps.
