Lighting help needed
you may or may not have played portal, but i'm having real trouble making the light effects for the portals themselves.
what i need is a thin blue or orange ring around each hole in the wall, and for this to be produced by something that the camera cant see.
the best i've managed is basically a roof lamp shoved in a bin, but that was far too obvious on the track.
the first thing i tried was the small range pointlight, but that failed too

Re: Lighting help needed
Ahahaha... I gave up on making a portal map because I couldn't figure out how to make the portals themselves..
I hope you can figure something out.. and sorry I couldn't be of any help. I tried pointlights and couldn't find a way to make those work either.

Re: Lighting help needed
portals were simple:
- make the main floor/walls/ceiling of the room with the 4x4 concrete tiles.
- make a special tile (that turned out to be a little too big, but i bodged things a bit) out of the single tiles that has an oval hole in it.
- where you have a portal, make an exact copy of the entire room on both sides of the portal
this is why i was asking about wind for gravity earlier, because you can easily get rooms that go sideways to how they should be

By portals, I meant the lighting effects that you're trying to achieve..

doh. thought you meant what the portals do, rather than what they look like. good to know i'm not the only one who was stumped about this
