    Nightmare runs!

How many times have you aproached tyhe finish line, with the fastest time you ever pulled off and then CRASH!
I pulled off the sickest run on Isabelle, crossing the finsh line at 34 sec, but no platinum medal was awarded. To my horror, I had hit my head on the entrance to the hole you get sucked through! I've never made a run like that before (or anyhwhere near for that matter!)
It was heart wrenching and now my plat run is nowhere near as smooth!

    Re: Nightmare runs!

I had a run on Concrete Dreams the other day where I was 7.6 seconds ahead when I crashed coming down the final long pipe. That would have put me about 40 seconds. I only managed to take a second or two off since then.

I mentioned in another thread.. I ALMOST had my final platinum and crashed on the platform before the swinging obstacles.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Sucks though man.. i know how you feel.

    Re: Nightmare runs!

Yeah well welcome to Trials ..Thats pretty much my whole story for this game. Now I am at the point of going for top leaderboard times I never slow down so mistakes like this happen often, particularly at the end of the tracks. Honestly you should see the 'back' button on my controller. It has like this thick smudgy film around it from pressing it so often.

I think this happens because I always have alot more experience playing the first parts of tracks than final parts and there is nothing worse than doing a sweet first part of a track and backing off at the end so you wouldn't mess up. So now I never back off but naturally I still make alot of mistakes although I am doing a hell of alot of runs.

I read some of the best advice ever given for this game and I read it on these boards. It was from our #1. he said "Remember, you can always have one more go". BEST ADVICE EVER for this game. Mistakes don't matter (except for tournaments) because this game doesn't reward consistency.

    Re: Nightmare runs!

I once had a run on Diabolic that was 18 secs faster than my current best. Only to crash on the final section. I took the bottom route under the barrels to the afterburner and smashed my face off the handlebars. I know I could do that run again but I find myself more into gamerscore again than Trials HD. I went from 3+ hours a day of Trials to now where I barely play 15 min of it a day.

on the midnight club, this is what happened

Diabolica: 2 faults, awesome time. i was damn happy
Goin up: 0 faults, resonable time. still damn happy
Inferno 2: 1 fault, good time. i was extatic at this point
Groundhog forever: 1 stupid fault. this put me back in my place a bit

then, on brown boxes, i was going over the very first obsticle, was almost over it and BOOM! the explosives blew up beneath me for no reason, giving me a fault.

second obsticle, went over it perfectly and again BOOM! big explosion for no reason.

by the end of brown boxes i had 26 faults, none of which were my fault, and a time of about 3 mins

then, just to rub it in, i get a sweet time on greatest hits, with 1 fault, which means that if i got through brown boxes with my usual 0/1 faults, and 1:00-1:20 time, i'd have platinum.

not surprisingly, at the end of that run, my pram had considerably fewer toys in it

I've hit my head on that vent by the finish line on Isabelle countless times! It only needs to be moved back a tiny bit and it would never happen.

last night i was 11 second ahead of my best time on Inferno II - got past last beam jump landed on ground funny past the plates and just fliped back and crashed - didn't get hit or anything - i would have been in top ten if i didn't mess that up

I did the exact same thing 3 times today, before gatting platinum. I'ts my mates controler, so I couldnt break it!

And why the hell is greatest hits platinum time more about speed? I ride it pretty fast, and I;m still about 2 sec off before faulting near the finish!

The top times are about a half a minute ahead of platinum. But, I think the reason is its fairly easy for an extreme track. The plat times for the original extreme tracks are very generous.

I supose you're right, I made it eventually, but compared to any other Extreme track, that wass the hardest for me to platinum!
I didn't hesitate too much on the others, but there were bits I had to roll back or retry an obstacle from the base to get the right jump and still made platinum with time to spare.
Come to think of it, Brown boxes requires a good speed too.
