Why are all objects placed on an angle?

    Hey all..

When I edit a track, a good deal of the time when I place my object, the angle will change slightly. When I zoom in on this object, it appears to be at a slight angle. This messes me up when I'm placing wall panels or successive ramps because the edges will not be straight.

I have made sure that my editor camera is at the default view.

    Thanks!

Re: Why are all objects placed on an angle?

Jorma is probably best at explaining why it does it, something to do with 256 angles .

But a small trick to avoid this happening if your trying to line up large objects:

If you snap rotate an object twice then press A to place it, the object will be slightly off what you wanted. Try to think of ways to achieve what you want by rotating objects only once, pick a different axis for example. The hardest one to get right in the game is probably the metal half pipes, should provide a nice puzzle for you=D.

The smaller objects are better at placement, but this could also have something to do with the cost of memory it takes to store them.

I believe thats because they are compressed when saved, and if the angle is a decimal number, it gets rounded, so it changes slightly...something to do with floating point inprecision and that ****

Thanks, Akatsuki! At least I wasn't going crazy..

I noticed last night that it only happened when I copied objects, so I stopped copying a lot of things. Nice to know that I can continue copying when I use certain items or don't want to rotate others.

if you copy an object and dont rotate it again its fine, but if you move it then expect trouble =D

think about this when building, can save you alot of space in the 80kb limit
