    Re: WTF !?

    Ahh okay thanks Mike.

    And i understand now.
I had a time of 4:01 on World Cup which was Platinum, and me impriving it to 3:25 didnt increase my score as much as i would have thought because i went 'over that platinum mark'.

Still, i guess its back to Midnight Club, thought i doubt ill 0 fault it.

Time to use your guide Mike !!

    Re: WTF !?

so if a track takes 1 min for plat. 1 person does it in 59secs and the other in 50 ( for example) would the scores be almost the same. but if gold was 49 and he did it in 49 the score would be considerably less than both 50 and 59 ????

I'll try to explain scoring to the best of my knowledge in the simplest way that I can.

Bronze medal = max of 50,000
Silver medal = max of 100,000
Gold medal = max of 150,000
Platinum medal = minimum of 150,000 and maximum of 200,000 (the minimum excludes The Midnight Club)

There is a linear graph (a line) that makes the platinum time to 0 directly proportional to 150,000 to 200,000 'm not 100% sure it's linear, but I'm pretty sure). 150,000 points is if you were to get EXACTLY platinum. 200,000 points is if you get 0 seconds. Obviously, we won't ever get 0 seconds on a course legitimately.

Let's say for example the platinum on a course is 5 minutes exactly.
If you were to get 5 mins and 0 faults, you would get 150,000 points.
If you were to get 4 minutes exactly, you would get 160,000 points.
If you were to get 3 minutes, you would get 170,000 points.
2 minutes would net you 180,000.
    1 minute nets you 190,000.
0 seconds would net you 200,000 points, as previously stated.

Both the time that you get on the course and the amount of points you get are directly proportional to each other. You just have to make sure you know what the platinum time was.

    Re: WTF !?

    Mike-

Your principles are valid, but the numbers are off a bit.

    For single race tracks:
    0-fault in silver time = 65,000 pts
    0-fault in gold time = 110,000 pts
    0-fault in platinum time = 164,000 pts

Even with a "record" time, most tracks won't get you more than 170k to 180k pts. The few exceptions are the extreme tracks which can get you up to 185k, and Underground, where you can get 190k using the shortcut.

    Tournament scoring is very different:
    0-fault in silver time = 162,500 pts
    0-fault in gold time = 175,000 pts
    0-fault in platinum time = 190,000 pts

Increasing your score past platinum won't translate into very many points, because there is only a 10k pt window between 190k and 200k. Even Laestrope's amazing 5:42 run on Midnight Club is only worth 194,561, a mere 4561 more than a 0-run platinum.

I ran your numbers, increasing from 4:01 to 3:25 on World Cup should have netted you 1,333 extra points.

    Re: WTF !?

Just for completeness, here are the scores for the skill games:
    Silver score: 50,000
    Gold score: 100,000
    Platinum score: 160,000

You can see, with such a wide 40,000 pt window above platinum before the 200k ceiling, this represents a pretty significant potential.

Some games can net you up to 195-199k with a top score. As an example, here are the scores for Pain! Again! (DLC bone breaker):
    35 (Silver): 50000
    65 (Gold): 100,000
    90 (Gold): 160,000
    100: 173,188
    110: 182,027
    120: 187,953
    130: 191,925
    140: 194,587
    150: 196,372
    160: 197,568
    170: 198,370
    180: 198,908
    190: 199,268
    200: 199,509
    205: 199,598
    206: 199,614

The curve levels out at the top, but just getting those first 20-40 bones above platinum nets you 20-35k pts!

BTW, these are kinds of cool calculations you can do with my spreadsheet PM me your email address for a copy of my spreadsheet.

I think it was just an example of what it could be..

    Alright thanks for the clarification.

And Elements, I can't find you anywhere on the leaderboards. Not in any tournaments or in global rankings or anywhere. Maybe this has something to do with your problem?

Oh, and lesprite, he was talking about my medal point values, not my 5 minute example that I did.
