For Diabolic's 9th Checkpoint (the Huge Jump), it helps a ton to do a frontflip. The jump is large enough that there's easily enough time to do a frontflip, which, of course, helps a ton in clearing the jump.
On Groudhog Forever's 4th and 5th checkpoints, here's a recovery situation.
Situation: Your front tire is over the edge, but your back tire is still on the ground.
What to do: Brake and hold right.
I know that seem really obvious. However, I have seen several people just fault when they get themselves into that situation, whereas it's probably the easiest place to recover from if you're stuck. I don't think it would do any harm putting it in, though, however useless it seems. This would also work for the 7th Checkpoint in Brown Boxes.
I think I know what you're talking about. I actually think that it helps even more if you continually hit gas brake gas brake. It pushed your back end up. I'll try these out and see what I can figure out. Same with your recovery Reaper.Originally Posted by NfskMjmMal
EDIT: I misread exactly what you were trying to say nfskmjmmal. I'll add those, I know what you mean when you say people just fault for no reason there. I also added Reaper's recovery for Diabolic.
Just a quick message to say thank you for taking the time to write this guide HoorayItsMike. Your tips helped me getting more consitent on some obstacles, and understand why I was landing on my teeth on some othersI've platinumed two extrem tracks since (Brown Boxes and Groundhog forever) and I've only one faulted Going Up. I still need to work on the cursed wheels on Inferno 2. I'm not quite there yet on the other two.
Anyway, thanks man!
Awesome walk-thoughs, Mike. Gotta take issue with one thing, though:
3 out of 10, are you crazy?? This is easily one of the most difficult obstacles in the game to figure out and to get consistent. When I was trying to pass this track for the very first time, I can't tell you how many times I got to this point in about 5 minutes, but spent the next 25 minutes building up to the maximum 500 faults on this obstacle.Originally Posted by HoorayItsMike
Sure, I eventually figured it out, and I'm now more consistent here than in some other parts of the track, but just for "respect", I'd give this obstacle at least a 7 out of 10. If the measure was "frustration", then this obstacle would get the coveted 10/10.
Hmm..I understand the original frustration with this obstacle, I had the same problem. But, I'm not sure why you are having so much trouble with it now. It's just a bunny hop. That's really all it is. As long as you are in the position that I tell you to be in and you just do a big bunny hop then you'll make it. I'll increase the difficulty if it seems like others are having this much trouble as well. I'm not trying to insult your skills or anything by any means, but I'm just not sure why you are having so much trouble with it. I really don't think that this is one of those things that just comes very naturally to me and not to anyone else, but I could be wrong.Originally Posted by MegaTrain
So, anyone else having a lot of trouble with this obstacle even after trying my suggested technique? Is there a better technique to use for it?
Like you said mike, I think he is remembering how it was when he was first trying to get over this obsacle. Once you feel comfortable with the bunny hop, this obstacle is cake. Its nothing like the pipes or tires section of this level, where there is more room for error.
No, I don't really have trouble with it anymore, its just the legacy in my mind
If your rating criteria is "now that you are very experienced, how much trouble this obstacle continues to give you" then 3/10 is probably right.
I would describe it sort of like this: When you come to the obstacle, you get in the ready position, you know exactly what to do and know that you are capable of doing it. Now, how often do you to actually succeed in passing the obstacle with your current knowledge and skill of it?Originally Posted by MegaTrain
And how often you would be able to complete the obstacle is what I try to base the rating off of. Obviously there are going to be some disagreements, but all in all that's how I rate them.
For Groundhog Forevers first cp, i am wheeling up the metal ramp and leaning forward when my front tyre reaches the container, giving me more momentum for the bunnyhop. While this is more difficult than your method, it makes the second cp jump much easier. Obviously you already know and do this, but for me its more simple. Its probably a 0 fault vs speed thing. Anyway great guide![]()
When you are just playing this course by itself, I would definitely suggest this method. However, if you have already done the first 3 courses with 0 faults, then your nerves make this method almost impossible unless you just don't get nervous. The method I stated is the one that I find way more consistent from a 1 try standpoint.Originally Posted by WILLYUMZ
